  1. On Allocine, Oppenheimer starts with a 4.1 score and Barbie with a 3.6 score.
  2. Saturday numbers Elemental - 177,018 admissions Flash - 129,371 admissions
  3. Friday numbers Flash - 60,493 admissions Elemental - 64,858 admissions Elemental with a good jump again. Flash is sinking already

  5. Zaslav said this during his presentation at Cinemacon, "“It’s the best superhero movie I’ve ever seen. I have it seen it three times." Gunn said this to the reporters while unveiling his DC plan, "“Can I say one more thing? The Flash is f**king amazing. “Like it’s one of the best superhero movies I’ve ever seen. [Director] Andy Muschietti did an amazing job.” He then tweeted the same thing recently too. Then THR published that Tom Cruise article (presumably as promotion from WB) which said, "Cruise was so taken by what he saw that soon after, he reached out to Muschietti. It was a call out of the blue for the director. Cruise is said to have raved about the movie, saying something to the effect that Flash is “everything you want in a movie” and “this is the kind of movie we need now,” according to insiders. Just today, THR published at report about how few WB execs are surprised by this promotion strategy saying "This has sparked bemused head-shaking from some at Warners who question the wisdom of setting such high expectations. “It can’t be the studio telling you it’s good; your friends have to tell you it’s good,” says one insider. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/the-flash-warner-bros-ezra-miller-1235509432/
  6. The 2013 and 2015 Lists were shared by THR and Variety so they should count as reliable. After that, nothing really but Hasbro and Mattel highlight increases and underperformances in their quarterly or yearly reports like Suicide Squad sales upswing after the movie or Baby Yoda sales explosion etc.
  7. I think I realize what numbers you‘re talking about and if I‘m right, they are from The Licensing Letter which is really not reliable data. TLL just conducts some surveys and then massively extrapolate the data. Although a lot of confidential sales data is also estimated, but that is done by big market research firms. TLL is too small to provide reliable estimates. Also companies like Hasbro and Mattel don‘t publish the exact numbers, but they report increases or underperformances in their reports and TLL‘s estimates quite often doesn’t match with them. That‘s also why nobody else shares their estimates
  8. If box office doesn't reflect the brand's power then what does exactly? Comics is irrelevant because it is too niche a medium. Animation is non-existent. What other medium is left to define the brand exactly beside box office to define the popularity. Again, Superman clearly hasn't been able to perform well at box office. The era of Spider-man, Batman and Superman being the top 3 is long gone. Being known isn't equivalent to being popular
  9. Why though? If Batman can't compete with Dr. Strange or any other superhero on the box office, he clearly is less popular. At this point, if Aquaman 2 can replicate it's success, he should be called DC's numero uno. Batman's problem is that he has lost a lot of appeal among kids especially overseas.
