We should not forget Chinese people are being put by government for last 3 years on strict covid restrictions and for sure many citizens think they still need to do self-isolation even now. From Bruce in Chinese thread: "For now i think we should take the low box office range for china I noticed that there are ton of people complain about the government loose the zero-coid policy and said they won't come out until they get safe...the presale trends is abnormal,so....I expected CHINA now is 400m"

Nope, most blockbusters are still just post converted to 3D, there' won't be any big 3D boom like it was after first one. Filmmakers themselves avoid shooting in 3D and then audience is left with mediocre post converted results. Unless they create some new tech like 3D without glasses, I don't think there will by any shift from what we saw in last few years.

I had the same problem because all good IMAX 3D seats at my cinema were sold out for the weekend in first few hours. they randomly dropped them without any notice online.

Also early next year we will see official 4k Blu-ray for first Avatar and The Abyss!

This one is not AI upscaled one, it's leaked DCP copy they used at cinema projection but this noise like grain texture looks ok in motion, blu-ray also have it but like half of it.

Avatar Extended edition which is basically 3h long never feel for me like it's too long, theatrical version has probably little better pacing but not to the point I will choose one version from another. So if somebody say to me Avatar 2 is 30 minutes too long, I'm not buying that. All Cameron movies have good pacing for me, that's my personal tastes.

@IronJimbo made small comparison for you, official Blu-ray vs leaked DCPrip. It may seem that DCP is too sharp like some artificial sharpening was applied, but after close inspection frame by frame they are no sign of any sharpening artifacts you get on AI upscaled footage, picture is just sharper without any strange shenanigans. First Avatar can fully stand on its feet in a 2D. Yet seeing it at last re-release in IMAX 3D is just way fuller experience. 3d version is main version the way it was natively shoot, 2D is acceptable but stripped one.

tl:dr if you are watching A2 in 3D choose 3D HFR. If you normally have issues with 3D like motion sickness etc HFR in Avtar 2 should help with mitigating that

Was searching long time for any version that would beat official blu-ray. I have leaked DCPrip and one AI 4k upscale version. Checked like 10 different upscales and only one is kind of 'true' to the blu-ray source with same colors and details and just add more sharpness to the image that help when watching on 4k tvs. Problem with 4k upscales are either they are revisionist(color changes etc) or way too over-sharpened and show signs of sharpening artifacts, so good upscale need to be done with taste and respect to source material I would say. I have official blu-ray collector's edition but video quality of it is not that great tbh. Leaked DCPrip has way more details which blu-ray was stripped off.

Nope, it's old version and even worse than official Blu-ray which itself is not best transfer for home setup.

Maverick was fun movie especially in IMAX, watched it 3 times there but plot was as simple as it could be. Quite frankly I would rather believe in interstellar human expansion to another planet with blue giant human like Aliens that we cloned and are mind connecting to than I would believe Maverick surviving his super plane crash at Mach 10.2 speed lmao.

You know True Lies as 1994 movie, quite a different time for Box Office. Even T2 as legendary as this movie was is could not pull any close numbers TG:M did.

Titanic & Avatar were called as potential biggest flops in history before their release, so who cares what some critics say. Not everybody will like movie and that's ok.

First Avatar opened at $9.7m and grossed over $108m in SK, do pre-sales need to be super front loaded these days to get good gross there?

'Luke-warm' hmmm, On one of her videos Grace said she wanted to leave the cinema in first 30 minutes of Avatar 2009 screening, she hated it. Interesting that she likes second one.
