  1. Forgot about that one. Yeah it’ll probably do good business, though I still don’t see what people saw in that first one.
  2. Yeah the art house scene seems okay, but I’m not expecting much from Cuckoo and TV Glow, as much as I’m looking forward to them (I’m seeing the latter on Monday!) It seems like it’s down to the Shyamalans to save studio horror this year, and A Quiet Place too.
  3. I’m feeling quite good about Planet Of The Apes. Though it should be noted that I think the series has a ceiling (Dawn being the exception) so I hope people keep that in mind if the film does similar numbers that War did. Fall Guy I think has a shot of getting good audience turnout unless it ends up being another example of festival hype not translating. Garfield should be the fun family movie for the month. Furiosa will probably be the best of the big movies that month but I’m expecting it to do poorly. IF feels DOA. Overall, May probably won’t be great. At least June looks promising.
  4. When he was first fired I figured there was probably some story about DeMayo coming out soon (related to allegations from his Witcher co-workers) and Marvel/Disney just wanted to get ahead of it. But obviously not much has happened, so now I think he just pissed off the wrong person at Marvel. I don’t expect Marvel to have him back, he’s probably just back because the talk has died down and he wants to strike while the iron is hot with the praise the series has gotten.
  5. I think it just depends on the placement and how they’re used. It cant be the same way he did it in Guardians and Suicide Squad.
  6. At the very least I’m hoping for it to pass War’s $56M opening, ideally I’d like for it to reach $65M.
  7. I don’t expect Avengers to make its current date but that’s more because I doubt it’ll be ready in time (unless Feige is gonna direct the next two movies himself). Most likely Disney will just put another Marvel film there, maybe Shang-Chi 2 if that’s filming next year like rumored.
  8. Challengers is one I’m feeling quite good about. Tennis may not be exciting but everyone loves watching hot people play mind games with each other. Civil War I think will have a good opening weekend based off of interest in the topic but I see WOM not being too great and the legs reflecting that.
  9. The First Omen was always in a weird position given how that was a franchise that never should have been and had the prequelitis syndrome. Disney seemingly having no confidence in it despite being apparently good didn’t help either. as for Monkey Man, having seen the film last night, it’s good but it’s very much not your typical action revenge film. There’s a lot of swings taken by Patel thematically and stylistically, some of which work and some don’t. Since it’s low budget enough it won’t flop and probably will be set as a decent success, but not much beyond that.
  10. That production listing has to be an error, I don’t see a new X-Men movie happening until after Secret Wars.
  11. Given the rumors surrounding the setting of the movie (which seemed to be confirmed by today’s poster) it makes sense for Shalla-Bal to be involved here.
