Star power doesn't really matter except for VERY average movies that people ONLY watch because of a specific person. I'd argue that Sydney Sweeney romcom was an example. Things like Dune really aren't. Also Dreamworks probably shouldn't rely on big name voice actors for anything other than musicals (i.e. Trolls) or Shrek where they actually matter. -

I don't want Disney to screw around with Prydain anymore. Have someone with more depth do a live action remake. -
Also I should really point out that Minus One absolutely deserved the award it got and more. Crunch time is not an excuse to disqualify a product, if it was then the entire AAA games industry would basically be disqualified.

The main person I knew in the animation community considered Nimona the big underdog candidate, not Spiderverse. The push for Heron was as much about Miyazaki's entire career as the film itself. Heron might be his last film and one of the last "traditional" animations since Hollywood doesn't make them anymore and even most modern anime extensively use CGI.

Part of it is this was the only board where people thought Dune 2 would somehow go over 50 mil week 2.

She IS risking her career though. Most people are not going to pay to see a movie simply because Dakota Johnson is in it. Her roles will start to dry up sooner rather than later.

She does provide a good example of why Hollywood press tours are counterproductive about 70 percent of the time, though.

Seriously, you need to give it a rest. There's movies other than Oppenheimer that are deserving. Oppenheimer itself got lucky because of the "Barbenheimer" slot.

Ruby Gillman bombed because people are bigoted against Deep Ones. Obviously Wild Robot will do much better because there are many robosexuals who prefer doing it with their virtual friends rather than a real woman who devotes herself to Cthulhu.

Biggest problem for Frozen Empire is no hook. I was hoping for a Vigo the Carpathian or Samhain plot for the sequel film but this is neither. Godzilla x Kong can still go, it's hard to permakill Godzilla, especially immediately after Minus One.

Yes they are. "Panda" is not a scientific classification like crocodilian, it's just a name people use for an animal. There is no "Pandadae" animal, just an ursine (giant panda) and an Ailurid (red panda) that resembles a raccoon. Hence a red panda is a "panda" since "panda" is not a scientific classification. If pandas were a specific group of animal like Ursidae (bears) THEN a red panda would not be a panda but it's not. Of course a red panda is not a bear, just like a koala is not a bear since neither are Ursidae.

And outside of Nolan/Villeneuve you have maybe one other director, so comic adaptations it is.

I'm very skeptical Kung Fu Panda 4 will go over 56 mil unless the opening day tracking here is VERY inaccurate. -
Ironically the merger likely failed because Paramount and WB have little to offer each other as corpos other than mountains of more debt to the merged entity. If WB could get certain properties off Paramount for cheap it might be different but they're not selling assets.
