  1. If you want to talk about top people, why not talk about the people who are above the creatives? We should be asking if Iger is making things better or making them worse since his return. Like what exactly is his plan to get Disney out of the hole they are in?
  2. Wonka is a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie with no Charlie or the Chocolate Factory......... it was DOA from day one.
  3. Strong is relative cause it's still not certain if THG can break 250M WW...... even if it gets to 300M WW it's not some great result for a movie with a 100M budget. I suspect the Hollywood strikes has damaged theaters to such a degree that ultimately it's a pyrrhic victory in the end for the guides and the studios. Everyone is going to be screwed if theaters die because of the strikes.
  4. You misunderstood me too, like how the fuck can Disney expect Wish to sell if there is no Let It Go or Bruno from the movie? The Wish songs are a bunch of generic pop songs, not having a musical specialist like Lin-Manuel Miranda in charge of the music is a mind bogging decision.
  5. We live in time where a THG movie has better songs than a WDAS movie........ think about it. It's one thing to fuck up the writing and animation, but how the freak they fuck up the music of a Disney movie I can never understand.
  6. Disney has been carrying the exhibitions for a while a while already...... I don't think you understand how many theaters are at risk of closing down if Disney keeps producing flops and bombs. Napoleon is being hyped a lot for a film which is still going to be a flop.
  7. The Marvels is a bomb of such unfathomable magnitude that it is impossible to explain why simply with "because it sucks". There has to be macro reasons that should be making people in Disney and Marvel shit their pants cause their entire brand is more permanently damaged than they want to admit.
  8. Comic book fans cared about Iron Man and that matters the most................ original screenplay is way harder to get right than adapted because it's really hard to write a good story. And to write good characters. Having the comics to adapt from removes much of that difficulty because even if you make massive changes to the comic stories, you have the greatest hits of the comic industry as your backbone. If you want to pick the shitty unpopular characters of the comic books as the basis of your movies, all you are doing is basically being struck writing original screenplay. And it is possible to get that right, but also way more possible to get it wrong too.
  9. Because of this Young Avengers should be an animated series. That's the only chance it could possibly work.
  10. Marvel has been scrutinizing their slate permanently ever since Endgame and reshuffling projects everytime, yet the march goes forward in the direction of the iceberg. I am still waiting for a sign that the people in Marvel realize that this fucking around with D tier characters isn't working.
  11. If it's a success then why would no one in confidence in any Black Panther 3? The reality is that any 250M budget movie making 850M is meh and not good enough.
  12. Then the MCU becomes essentially no different from the DCEU............ one of the biggest reasons for the MCU being a success is that the movies are intertwined and the general public feel the obligation to see them all. It is probably true that this intertwining is increasingly becoming unsustainable and a burden. But self contained series means that it's going to be way harder to sell those Blue Bettles.
  13. Disney has been trying to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise for a while already, with no luck. Rebooting the MCU is easier said than done. But I do think it is something they should consider sooner rather than latter.
