  1. I have a feeling Aquaman is staying put, unless the movie needs re-shoots. If Dune Part 2 moves, I kind of like the idea of WB re-shuffling its 2024 slate so Dune gets a Cannes premiere and Furiosa’s Memorial Day weekend date. Furiosa can then get a Venice premiere and Fall date.
  2. With Kraven being delayed, I hope The Marvels moves to take the 10/6 date. Would be a good fit for it as it wouldn’t have any major competition for October and could grab some IMAX screens.
  3. Yeah, this always happens. The vast majority of people thought Barbie and Oppenheimer were big risks . . . until it became clear they were going to be smashing successes. Suddenly, everyone ALWAYS knew they were going to be huge. I’m pretty confident the average age of r/boxoffice is like 14.
  4. I wish this wasn’t true, but it is. I don’t care about The Marvels (first one is bottom tier MCU IMO), but you can’t ignore how much money the first one made.
  5. The IMAX news leads me to believe Disney moved The Marvels to 11/10 with the hope that Dune Part Two would move to avoid the competition. Now we see why WB is reluctant to move it if Part 2 has a long IMAX contract. IMO, this standoff is gonna lead to one of them moving the release date, which has become more acute now with the strikes. It’s just a matter of which studio will blink first.
  6. Is there any real chance they have a deal by then? All the rumblings I’ve seen seem to indicate otherwise. Still, assuming this is true, it would put to bed any notion WB/Legendary plan to move from 11/3 due to the crowded November schedule.
  7. Sorry, but one recent outlier does not make a trend. Maybe times are changing, but you can’t count on that.
  8. Moving it to March may make business sense, but I think it’s an odd release date for a movie thats intended to garner awards. Whether fair or not, not many movies released in the first quarter of the year (or even second quarter) get much love come award season.
  9. I enjoyed Dune Part One and it was my most anticipated movie in years, but the second half was 20-30 min longer than it needed to be. That time could have been spent focusing on the traitor subplot, better characterization, and longer and more interesting action scenes (especially during the Arrakeen battle). Also, the final fight needed to be way better.
  10. I don’t want to see Dune Part Two delayed, but I’m starting to get pessimistic about the movie’s chances if it stays with the 11/3 date. I don’t even like 10/20 because (1) the next weekend is the weekend before Halloween, which is a bad BO weekend and (2) The Marvels is guaranteed to move to 11/3. After what has happened to MI:7, a well-reviewed movie part of a successful franchise, I just think Dune Part 2 is in trouble if it doesn’t have a good 2-3 weeks of PLF breathing room.
  11. Pre-sale numbers for Barbie and Oppenheimer are certainly casting some doubt on the Quorum’s credibility.
  12. It is a fan account (also produces YT content) that tends to be a little more connected in terms of obtaining scoops. Not nearly as trustworthy as DuneInfo, though, which I think has some good sources within the production. Whether the rumor is true or not, I still think it’s likely the runtime will be close to 3 hours. Just a lot left to cover.
  13. That’s interesting since trailer 2 for the US currently has 5M less views than Trailer 1. Maybe that indicates some stronger international interest?
  14. Dune Part Two to Run Over 3 Hours? Rumored early cut of the movie is 3 hours 15 minutes. I don’t think the Final Cut will be THAT long, but I think around 3 hours is pretty likely.
  15. Updated Quorum numbers are out. Awareness increased 2 points to 34. Interest down two points to 38. I’m sure the recent survey was done before the second trailer, but these numbers aren’t looking great so far. Interest in particular is well below other November releases (Marvels and Hunger Games).
  16. I wonder if tracking is not going well. The Quorum numbers so far have not been great, especially for a “highly anticipated” sequel/part 2. Only comfort is that both Oppenheimer and Barbie are headed for OWs better than you would expect based on their current Quorum numbers.
