  1. A lot of those examples are pre-2000 or animated films, and in both cases I think the expectation about the length of the movie during the development phase was different compared to your typical MCU movie in this day and age. Still, this doesn’t mean a short runtime for Marvels means it’s bad.
  2. With Dune moved to 2024, I think a lot of people are overlooking this movie, especially when it comes to awards season.
  3. Yeah, short run time doesn’t automatically mean a movie is bad. But, considering the run time most MCU movies have had, if this rumor is true, you have to ask why it is such a short run time compared to all the other MCU movies. Good or bad, I still don’t see how this movie makes less than $600M WW.
  4. This doesn’t look good. Wasn’t Thor L&T the previous shortest movie? Maybe they’re lucky Dune moved. The contrast could lead to a critic backlash like Eternals got following the first Dune.
  5. Villeneuve’s “Dune: Messiah” Partly Written Hopefully he gets to make Dune Messiah. GA is just so fickle these days. Hard to know what’s gonna hit with people.
  6. Would it really be that simple? I imagine Hunger Games and Napoleon would want IMAX screens as well.
  7. Has there been any analysis about what happened in Korea? Is the market there changing ala China?
  8. I am not ruling out that Part 2 could be pushed back further, but I don’t think it’s likely, unless the strikes continue to be an issue come January. I just hope the March date doesn’t reflect a lack of confidence in Part 2. It may reflect a lack of confidence in its award pedigree, but that’s not a concern to me.
  9. Agree 100%. The last one didn’t have a Holiday boost and still made $108M DOM, even with releasing simultaneously on HBO Max. This movie will make at least $150M DOM and will likely do better OS as well. Pretty sure its OS number was top 5 for Hollywood movies in 2021, and most of that happened during renewed Covid scares.
  10. I suspect Disney was always hoping for Dune to move, strike or no strike.
  11. I’m baffled how March is more crowded than November. Marvels, Hunger Games, and Napoleon are much more direct and stronger competition than Snow White (likely to be delayed anyway) and Ghostbusters. Edit to add: Both those movies are also far weaker competition internationally as well.
  12. I also wonder how much the editing process played a role in this delay. Denis decided on some Re-shoots/new scenes while editing Part 1. With the strikes, he does not have the ability to do that, so maybe they played a role in the delay?
  13. March seems like a bad release month for this. Just disappointing news. If Marvels isn’t delayed, I GUARANTEE it moves up to 11/3. That’s what Disney has wanted all along. Effing Mouse . . .
  14. I didn’t realize that one studio could agree to SAGs demands.
  15. That’s why I said “looks like” an “unstoppable force” and not “is” an “unstoppable force.” You don’t need to be rude in how you respond. I enjoy friendly and civil discussion. This forum isn’t Reddit.
  16. That, and Oppenheimer just looks like an unstoppable force come award season. No matter how good Part 2 is, I think a lot of the awards Dune could win will go to Oppenheimer (BP, director, special effects, score, etc.).
  17. Yup, you could see the money in the production values. Too bad they went cheap on the writing side. A well written show would have served Amazon better.
  18. I don’t want to see it delayed, but if it’s gonna happen, I’d like it to get Furiosa’s current date in late May.
