  1. Wide range of opinions here. My audience actually f'ing clapped at this and there was some parts the theatre was cracking up at. New theatre here, b/c I moved recently, so not sure the demographics, but it was packed and everyone seemed to like it. I'm a little biased b/c Venom was one of prob my top 5 comic characters growing up, and at times prob my favorite. I liked it a lot. Like 8.5/10 or so. I get the complaints but for me the thing they really got right was the development between Eddie and Venom. I loved how they just kind of grew closer, and like a review I read, it became like a buddy comedy. The banter was pretty solid, and I found myself just wanting to listen to their convos more and more - and laughed quite a few times. Hardy can't do much wrong in my eyes. I thought the CGI was solid enough. When Venom fully came out and just starting f'ing stuff up - I found myself just smiling. They captured his power and agility pretty well. Yeah I could pick apart some stuff, but I'm a happy camper.
  2. Wow. That was a shitload better than I thought it would be. I thought it'd just be a fun/cheezeball throwaway shark movie, but it was so much better. It's a legit good movie Imo. Had some great sequences, good buildup, straight forward story but the stakes were always there and was always interested in what was going on. CGI and underwater stuff was pretty dope. Statham does statham well, cast overall did good enough. Overall, just really pleased this was on another level than what I expected. Wondering what @baumer thought of this?
  3. LMao at the younger people just not feeling this. It's so "dorky" or "he's not cool enough" with the "terd in the wind" comment. I was a teen when lethal protector first came out. I actually grew up loving spidey but venom was even better. This is venom. Venom is a combo of a meathead and a crazy ass alien...da fuck u expect? Some prophetic lines? This looks amazing...only reservation I have is the whole riot thing...just do carnage instead with a serial killer where he can exercise his bad guy vibes in the first part then draw a line and be like no I eat murderers In the second part. Pros- That Venom CGI is f'ing amazing already - Hardy - The conflict b/w Brock/venom - Venom as a sarcastic, awesome alien Cons - Will the action be good? Will it be different enough to stand out? - Riot? really - Story? I always look at directors for hope...and I don't have hope looking at this director, but the trailers have given me some, and mainly Hardy has given me a lot. Fingers are crossed for a dope movie but we shall see.
  4. Shocked by this...This looks f'ing great and fun as hells bells. I'd expect this type of movie to have a super low budget and be direct but that JJ affect. Combo of WWII and crazy nazi experiments-horror/action...so down. PS. Amazing trailer - incorporates AC/DC perfectly
  5. What a weird comparison...but just no. Fallout runs circles around that scene. Baby Driver I won't comment on, besides if I ever have to sit through it again I'll prob kill myself. Anyways, Fallout was pretty damn good. I had some gripes, but some of the scenes def had me glued to the seat. I feel like once the breakout scene action started, it was just an amazing series of great action, tension, and escalating stakes that never quit till the end. Not sure the ranking yet. Won't do it after just one viewing. I love how FR is being thrown around so much because one reviewer made a comparison. F, they're both amazing if you love great camera work, direction, legit stunts... they both can be great at what they do, but way f'ing diff movies here.
  6. Seems like I'm not alone in really liking this. I figured I'd at least have a good time, some good action/chase sequences, and had read Alden was good and they got the chewy/han relationship. So I was optimistic I'd like it. But it was a notch above just like and "had fun" for me. It was pretty non-stop action, which I'm always down for, and especially after that last Star Wars movie which will not be named, that dragged. Alden was f'ing great. I actually thought everyone did a good job all the way around - but Alden def stood out. He made me smirk, laugh, and brought the charisma just like Harrison did for me back as a youngster. Some of the ending with all the double crosses lingered on a little long, but I don't have too many gripes. Makes me a lil sad that this is the Star Wars movie bombing when the other movie should've been the bomb.
  7. Yup, that's legit...and that's just hard work from Brolin, seriously doubt any "super supps". You can tell also because he's not huge...he just got ripped. Diet, training, low ass BF%. Pretty impressive for a guy his age, but he's gotten pretty ripped before. Posted in the main thread but I thought about when the trailer x-force got wiped out, well I lmao, and the movie became so much better for me from that point on. First half was ok, but from that point on I really liked it. Had some good moments you wanted to see between cable/dp - that is def an important connection to get going forward, I'm the juggernaut Bitch!, good final action scene with the real x-force team, also the transport action scene was solid. It was like a C+/B- movie for me the first half and like an A-/A movie the second half.
  8. So great. I went through a horror phase in my life where I saw about everything from straight up nasty/gore shock, to supernatural, to slasher, and still go now and then but find most of them...lacking. This was so awesome. It's just really f'ing well done and the last 45 mins or so are just, bravo. I really can't say enough about it. Best horror/thriller movie in years.
  9. Movie was a lot of fun. 8.5/10. Thought the acting all around was solid. I'm a fan of tye Sheridan for sure, and I haven't seen Olivia cooke in really anything, but she was really good. The technical side was amazing. I think mendelsohn as a bad guy is just OK. Like I just don't feel really threatened buy him in anything. Could've been a better casting Imo. And geez, TJ Miller...as a villain. No. I don't get why just because you want a movie to be a fun adventure you have to skimp on a villain or make him/her less threatening. There's so many clever references...I loved Chucky and then all the IOIs going red, I lmao. No doubt the best sequence of references was Samantha as Art disguised as Goro with the Alien chestburster to give wade/parzival the f'ing clark Kent disguise. Gold. Somehow I missed the Lara croft references....Where were they? The great thing is I def stopped looking for them because of I really was more invested in wade getting the keys. Which just shows Spielberg is the man.
  10. So I started to get really pumped for this movie in the last few weeks...because hey, I'm somewhat a nerd, I was a child of the 80s/90s and love pretty much all the movies/music/games that I thought would be referenced. It was pretty dope. The best was the adventure...the wonder, the journey that the characters go on. Like others have said, the pop references are awesome for sure but the major players are the ones that are shown mostly in the trailers - besides a couple, ha...most of the others play a smaller role - but are still cool as hell. But really you're caught up in a well told adventure through most of it and I'm def going to have to see it again because I know I missed quite a few references. Overall, I liked it a lot, but didn't love it. Something held it back from just that magical feeling you rarely get walking out.
  11. As this gets closer I'm actually getting pretty excited for it. I wasn't early on, but IDK, recently been pretty intrigued...I'll def be seeing it this weekend.
  12. If you really think about it...this is exactly the character Hardy would be attracted to. He says it right there in the trailer. Everyones got their issues, their problems. Hardy has dealt with some tough things, he's an alchoholic, and pretty much recovered from it. But the guy has demons inside for sure. He's the perfect casting for Eddie/Venom. If the director and the script come thru this could actually be what we all thought a joke of a movie to one of the best, most personal comic movies there have been. Hardy is prob my fav actor right now and I think this could end up being really fucking good.
  13. Not sure why I saw it, bored I guess. But shit, it does go by pretty quick. CGI, action was solid. That's all I can really say and all that matters for this. But lol at taking the Charlie day character and doing what they did. What the f.
  14. lmao...so this died. But saw it tonight because I wanted to see a movie and either a) I've seen everything I wanted to or B ) I just couldn't drag myself through a wrinkle in time. It is what everyone prob thought. But I don't mind watching a decently made revenge movie. It did its job...it won't be memorable, but I was entertained. Bruce had some good kills, and it's always good to see bruce have some kills. 7.5/10.
  15. Pretty solid movie. I thought I'd end up being bored with the runtime but I was pretty engaged the whole time. JLaw does a good job, as well as Edgerton and F, it's got Irons, so yea. I really liked the sparrow training parts and thought they should've spent more time with that. It was well done and I wanted more. Some parts reach and drag but not too much. I'd def recommend for anyone looking for a adult themed spy drama.
  16. Bro you forgot Winston Duke as Mbaku - that guy was awesome. And prob my favorite besides jordan, Letitia wright was sooo awesome as tchallas sister. That was actually my favorite part of the movie...the banter between tchalla and shuri- brother and sister stuff...I can relate. Great movie. 9/10 for me.
  17. Wow only 16 replies. Ha, been tons of interest for this I see. Saw it earlier tonight. As a western fan, I liked it. It's on the slower side but it's very well done. Great cinematography, really good acting all around. I have a few complaints about character development along the way but it does a good job of putting you in the time and making you feel the emotions of the characters. Bale is great, Rosamund is also really good. Def would recommend for any western fans.
  18. So Cavill is the villain in this, right? That stunt footage is awesome. I love cruise. Don't care if he's a weirdo away from the screen. The guy has one of the best filmographies ever.
  19. Welp...was about half way through with the movie (and liking it a lot)....theatre and the whole surrounding area loses power- full on blackout for a few blocks in San Diego. I just stared at the blank screen for about 5 minutes, laughed, and then walked out to a pitch black shopping center/parking lot. Have been to movie theatres thousands of times and think this is a first.
  20. Yeah I caught Molly's Game last weekend. Totally agree, one of my favorites of 2017. In my top 5. It's crazy how a movie that we've all seen in one way or another before can become so good with Sorkin's writing. I really couldn't look away... it really just sucks you in. I'm prob the only one who saw Den of Thieves - ha. I'll just say I was entertained and leave it at that.
  21. I haven't seen the last few Insidious movies, nor do I want to, but what Wan created in his little horror universe is pretty incredible. High hopes for his step into the comic universe with Aquaman.
  22. I kind of like these films. I like Dylan as the main guy. The first was surprisingly fun. The second I liked parts of it. I'll be there.
  23. I still can't believe hardy is doing this. I mean venom was actually a fav of mine back in the day, but it's just not a part I saw him ever going for. Pretty awesome he's doing it though, ill be there opening night.
  24. Haven't seen mother! yet...not sure I want to. But yea, this was pretty meh. Not bad simply for the reason Keaton is in it and Dylan does a pretty good job. It's just like wtf? tho. Like the ops they show in this are so dumb. I'm like, so this is supposed to be the best ops the us could put together. Idk, it's a rental...but it would be a good rental...it's just not worth theatre viewing. Tho the last nuclear bomb scene was actually pretty well done.
  25. F'in right bruv...I had so much fun with this movie. I was fearful of the run time going in but I pretty much was smiling and having a good time the whole movie. I actually like it more than the first and I liked the first quite a bit. Elton stuff was hilarious...he has a few lines that had me laughing harder than I have in a theatre in awhile. You obviously have to like the highly stylized, crazy camera movement action of Vaughn, and in these movies I love that. Good emotional stuff, some really good laughs, crazy action...I want to watch it again, now. Between this and It, September is by far the best month of the year for me. Still gotta check out American assassin also (but not huge expectations there).
