Not gonna lie, I was one of the only true believers (as a genuinely huge fan of the franchise) for the third film to breakout in a dead January 2016 (eight years ago), where there were nothing else in the scale of how much box office-wise the previous KFP-films before then, have performed. I even made clubs about it. And overperform on a grand scale, no less. 😬🥶👩🏻‍💼

And while the reception for KFP3 was high (with 87% critic rating on RT), the box office for that film didn’t really justify the critical praise it recieved. So good of a movie and yet Panda 3 underperformed in relative to the insane, yet hopefully box office predictions I had for it at the time.

Thankfully Panda 4 finally did/is doing things what the other two sequels couldn’t do:

    A. Open over $50M+
    B. Be on it’s way to $200M+ DOM due to no animated competition until late May.

    C. Be the hit DWA needed after the total flop of Ruby Gillman. Trolls 3 did a bit better in theaters though nothing overly spectacular.

I was not at all surprised about Kung Fu Panda 3, but Kung Fu Panda 2 really shocked me. It had a prime release date, fantastic reviews, yet opened and grossed well below the first.

    It’s such a great movie.

Damn, I had no idea The Color Purple's presales were doing so well. That might be the breakout success of December!

I can’t WAIT. I absolutely love the Broadway show.

Amazon still hasn’t shipped my copy of the original 4K. It comes out on Tuesday.

I think it took a lot of fans of Friday the 13th, including myself, to come around to this notion. But once you get past the fact that Roy the paramedic could never do the things that Jason does, it is an absolutely fantastic sequel. And in my opinion, it's the last Friday the 13th that truly keeps the original DNA from the first four films. It's got very similar direction, it keeps manfredini's score to a t and if the sensors hadn't have had a field day with their scissors, it would have been one of the bloodiest films in the series as well. I love Friday the 13th part 5.

My favorite is still Part 6! I watched it on Friday night. I came to the series late, though. My first Jason movie was Freddy vs. Jason. I saw it in theaters with some friends in high school and loved it.

Haha and I was just gonna bring up too that ironically Taylor’s pop sound owes a ton to Lana’s cues, despite Lana never being a mainstream hitmaker

So, Taylor, who had two #1 singles on the Pop charts in 2009, two top twenty singles on the Pop charts in 2007/2008, owes her sound to Lana, who released her breakthrough “Video Games” in 2011? And her Max Martin-produced smashes like “Shake It Off,” “Bad Blood” and “Blank Space” to Lana as well?

    Oof.

Gaga had Taylor’s cultural cache at her peak, and was a bigger, more global hit maker. Poker Face and Bad Romance might be bigger than any Taylor song. Even Shallow is bigger than any post-1989 song from TS.

Gaga has never sold out a stadium tour in her life.

“Shallow” spent 45 weeks on the Hot 100 and a single week at #1. “Anti-Hero” is still charting on week 51 and spent eight weeks at #1.

Bffr. The Beatles, Madonna, Britney Spears were much bigger. Even recently Rihanna and Adele have a much wider reach than taylor. They simply don't have as huge or dedicated fanbase as Swift. Especially Rihanna who is very dependent on the casual listeners compared to other listeners.

I personally believe there isn't any popstar in the last 15 years that peaked as high as Justin Bieber or even Lady Gaga. People often forget how easy it is now  especially in western countries to ignore artists you don't care about. With the rise of streaming and the fall of radio if you didn't want to hear its easy that wasn't the case when radio dominated

Edit: Y'all are definitely affected by recency bias.

Recency bias?! When Taylor’s debut album released George W. Bush still had a Republican majority in Congress.
