Spider-man Far From Home (2019)
dashrendar44 replied to baumer's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
Gyllenhaal would have killed it in a Raimi-directed Mysterio movie. (And his theme is more epic than the official MCU Spider-Man theme indeed. Too bad, it was a red herring). The attempt at meta-irony digs lampooning the MCU's derivative process through Mysterio's character is neat but once the illusion twist gets finally revealed it just back to the usual stale third act mush of CG it tries to subvert. To be honest, I've dreamt about an Alita directed by Bong Joon-Ho. No offense to Robert Rodriguez but yeah, Cameron collaborating with Joon-ho, that's a potent mix.

Skull Island worked because it was a popcorn adventure romp constricted to a survival scenario within a time and space unity. The last two Godzilla movies are too meandering, the focus is loose. You feel the movie slumming it whenever Godzilla is not on-screen. Skull Island really scaled King Kong's presence better over the span of the movie. -
I must have watched the last act of Aliens on VHS a hundred times. My dad used to watch T2's title sequence again and again to test his brand new home video setup so loud it made the floor rumble. Like I would be in my bedroom playing Legos and suddenly a deafening "DUHDUH DUH DUH DUH" bursting out from the living room. T2 is pretty much ingrained in my DNA at this point.

Emmerich's Zilla made more sense than this thing. How sway? C-.
