Stranger Things (Netflix)
theultimatebiu replied to zerbs's topic in Streaming, TV Series, & VOD Movies
Meh. I really enjoyed the first season. This season felt like a let down. A lot of build up to an above average climax. No character development. The basic story is also predictable and dull. I’m shocked how little I enjoyed this. -
Ive just seen it. I enjoyed it a lot but it isn't even remotely scary...creepy, yes but not scary. I did like that their real life issues (sex abuse, controlling mother, bullying etc...) was much more disturbing then Pennywise but overall it was not really scary. The kids were great. They all felt like real children and all were developed well ( Mike could have had much more to do then they gave him). There was an editing problem and it jumped a little too fast into dealing with the scares rather then build up tension and atmosphere. Still I enjoyed it and I hope the sequel builds more layers. 8/10 It's better if you take it as a coming of age tale with horror elements

I kinda agree that the book did have some bits that felt like filler and just slogged the book down in too much detail and weird rituals. I truly hope they dont have the stupid spider finale and the native American stuff kinda felt silly in the grand scheme of the book.

£7m would be amazing

Its more to do with it being a horror movie as well. The horror genre has always had a niche appeal hence most horror movies having a low budget and being dumped in any month to scrape a small profit. IT wasn't expected to make a lot of money, the director has already said there was a few scenes they wanted to do but due to it being to expensive they cut them out. A $35M budget is low in comparisons with films from other genres. With this big opening maybe there can be more faith put into horror movies potential to connect with larger audiences.

Anyone update on what IT made opening night?
