Meh. I really enjoyed the first season. This season felt like a let down. A lot of build up to an above average climax. No character development. The basic story is also predictable and dull. I’m shocked how little I enjoyed this.

I forgot most of what happened in Fantastic Beasts. Can anyone refresh my memory?
I watched that movie once and have no urge to ever see it again nor any of the sequels.

The part where Ritchie tries to break a bottle to use as a weapon had me laughing

The image of Georgie crawling away after losing his arm isn't leaving me for a while.
I agree that was upsetting and got some audible gasps and awwwww in my viewing...especially as he screams for his brother when he's dragged down.

Well deserved. Excellent marketing and a enjoyable movie experience.

Ive just seen it.
I enjoyed it a lot but it isn't even remotely scary...creepy, yes but not scary. I did like that their real life issues (sex abuse, controlling mother, bullying etc...) was much more disturbing then Pennywise but overall it was not really scary.
The kids were great. They all felt like real children and all were developed well ( Mike could have had much more to do then they gave him).
There was an editing problem and it jumped a little too fast into dealing with the scares rather then build up tension and atmosphere.
Still I enjoyed it and I hope the sequel builds more layers.
8/10
It's better if you take it as a coming of age tale with horror elements

I kinda agree that the book did have some bits that felt like filler and just slogged the book down in too much detail and weird rituals. I truly hope they dont have the stupid spider finale and the native American stuff kinda felt silly in the grand scheme of the book.

Sony still has that I Know What You Did Last Summer remake in development, Mike Flanagan (Hush) did a version of the script.
Who the hell wants to see a sequel/remake of that shitty film?

Pls Pls Pls let Scream 5 happen
Altough, without Wes Craven (RIP), im not so sure anymore...
I think scream doesn't work for this generation.
I'd love to see another crack at it but that's my nostalgia speaking.
Leave Freddy alone...they can't even get Jason right and that's fucking simple.

I personally don't think CotC is high up there anymore. They have made about 7 of them that have gone straight to HV.
I'm sure there are other Dean Koontz and Peter Straub horror novels that would make excellent horror films. And then you have Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews. I haven't read all of them but the first book is iconic and very well done. If they gave it the right treatment, it could do very well, imo.
They have milked it to death. it might have to just be original horror movies.

No nightmare on elm street remake. They fucked it up once....not again.
I cant think of another horror property making this much.
Maybe the stand? Or children of the corn?

I seriously doubt that WB regrets making more of a profit. So no I don't think that WB would have spent substantially more money if they knew it would make as much when they could make the same amount with less money.
Well you aren't WB so I don't think you can answer for them. Especially as the director himself said more scenes he loved would have made it in if not for the budget.
Anyone disappointed with this opening is a troll and knows little about box office trends

A 35 million budget is plenty big for a horror movie. Horror movies don't need 150mil budgets like Superhero movies, the genre is completely different.
In comparisons with other genres it's not big. For a horror movie it's big but I'm sure if they assumed they were going to make $100m OW the budget would have been larger...especially as the movie called for a bigger budget to recreate scenes from the source material.

I just don't get that it's R rated so it can't open big idea after an R rated film opened with 88mil just this past March.
Its more to do with it being a horror movie as well. The horror genre has always had a niche appeal hence most horror movies having a low budget and being dumped in any month to scrape a small profit.
IT wasn't expected to make a lot of money, the director has already said there was a few scenes they wanted to do but due to it being to expensive they cut them out. A $35M budget is low in comparisons with films from other genres.
With this big opening maybe there can be more faith put into horror movies potential to connect with larger audiences.

These numbers are good but they're are kinda disappointing. Trailer views suggested at the bare minimum 150m OW

IT just broke the horror glass ceiling .
As a huge horror fan I'm glad it has. WB have been taking horror movies more seriously then most other studios.

Let's hope they won't be TOO famous, they would be too distracting.
Last thing I want is Brad Pitt involved in any way.Yeah that would be dreadful but I can see some Oscar calibre stars jumping on board.

That's a batshit insane OD.
I think $100M is seeming more and more likely. It also seems to be doing great business OS too.
That 2nd part is getting pushed to a November release with big name stars.

Anyone update on what IT made opening night?

Its safe to say $80M OW is locked.
$90M is 90% guaranteed.
$95M is 70% guaranteed.
$100M is 55% guaranteed.
Either way this is a huge success that no one expected.

Just to reiterate exactly what Baumer said...a 6th film in a horror franchise that spans 4 decades should not be this successful but here we are.
I watched this yesterday and had a lot of fun with it. It's completely ridiculous but intense. Scream 6 has no right to be this bloody entertaining.
