  4. quick update. Wrath of Man takes top spot from MK which dips a hefty 54%. While GodzillaVKong has been giving 30m a good shake here, it's looking like it will fall short now and probably finalise between 27m and 28m.
  5. oh and small update on the list above.... Godzilla vs Kong in top spot now and Peter Rabbit 2 has shifted into 5th pushing tenet out of the top 5.
  6. Mortal Kombat producing a knock out victory at the top of the charts here. Frankly I would have been happy with the result here pre-covid which is a good sign for the movie market here. Godzilla vs Kong continuing on it's merry way to nearly 30m (it's going to be close, 26m and counting.) Remember this is like making 300m in the US. Peter Rabbit 2 also performing quite well with nearly 19m to date.

  11. wonder if it may gain a life under the disney animation banner in future ? especially if the film is well advanced........
  12. it's a interesting question but at the moment who knows really. it's still marked for release on the calendar .....
  13. Release Calendar Update :- Update time . May has been added - lets see how this pans out though. There is some chance (maybe some of these dates may hold though i'm still not optimistic...... 14. The Dry is having a fantastic run. 15m already. I feel like 20m is easily going to be passed with the small drops it keeps getting. At this rate 25m isn’t impossible in this market. to me the dry has turned out to be a film that has benefited from COVID. I think in a normal market this makes around 10m? COVID has given the film room to breathe. And the lack of competition has pushed it a lot further too.
  15. and so it continues.... 1 case in WA (was out and about like what happened in Brisbane earlier this year). and Perth and surrounds have gone into lockdown for 5 days as a result. (this includes mask wearing where outside) Coronavirus lockdown announced for Perth and South West after quarantine hotel worker tests positive (msn.com)
  16. to me, the real anniversary is from when it was named a pandemic (11th March). i was just reading a few of the early posts - not going to drag them up but some of the comments were spot on and others, well really were way to optimistic ... most almost certainly underestimated this thing - even the pestimistic ones still underestimated things mostly.
  17. Release Calendar Update :- Ok decided to remove the already released list from this post going forward - it's in the first post on this Thread. Anyway not a lot to update at the moment as most of the changes have happened. There isn't a lot coming out february thru April. I guess the great hope for cinemas is a potential return in May which i suspect may be optimistic but lets see how it all pans out over the next 3 months. It should be noted a couple of films have already left May indicating what may be coming there. EDIT :- Saint Maud is released 29/1 &
  18. it's updated above now. I've added April as it appears that most studios have now fled spots all the way out to the end of April. no major blockbusters until may that aren't releasing day and date with streaming services.,......
  19. Release Calendar Update :- Right. We are long overdue for an update on the current state of things and I'll let the changes do the talking because it's not a pretty picture (unless you like the colours ) So to give you an idea according to BOM there is only 1 film so far that has opened wide in January and only 1 more expected to open wide (it's a Warner Bros Release). Right now the only films staying put are those releasing day and date with their streaming releases (pretty much WB). February is looking pretty sparse too. March is a very slight improvement but rea
  20. Apparrently the tracing is going well so far with 70 contacts traced from her. and all of those have tested negative to date and are now in a 14 day quaratine. so far looking good for us to get out of lockdown on monday night. never seen the streets so quiet though...
  21. In saying all that after the announced lockdown was advised to start 6pm last night nearly everyone went shopping and basically stripped the supermarkets bare 🤦‍♂️🤔 yesterday. Just to get in was going to take hours. Let alone get out via check out. The whole idea of the lockdown probably just got stuffed if someone is unknown infected and went shopping yesterday with the 100’s of 1000’s people that were out stuck in lines everywhere.
  22. Apparently the desire here is to stop the spread before it can start. We had 1 case of the more virulent uk strain walking around for 5 days. yeah where I live is on a 3 day lock down. The streets are virtually deserted here this morning.
  23. True for the larger chains such as event. But I can see big troubles for the smaller operators without changes. Not saying it’s impossible but not a great situation
  24. True. Accept that is being wound in the next few months (it’s already reduced) the long term viability of cinemas not only overseas but here in Australia is in question right now. I don’t see numbers returning quickly especially with the move Warner’s took. in saying that WW84 had a very respectable start here. But even with that the overall BO for Xmas/ New Years is way down on previous years. though we aren’t getting the day and date release here so..... don’t think Warner’s will let foxtel play their movies earlier than normal.
