  1. I really liked Ant-Man. for various reasons, it resonated with me on a personal level.
  2. I love Superman, he is my favorite superhero, and the comics have a lot to do with that, i haven't read a ton of comics yet but off the top of my head my favorites so far would be: Daredevil: Born Again All Star Superman Kingdom Come Superman For All Seasons Aquaman Vol 1. (the New 52) Batgirl Vol. 1: The Darkest Reflection (The New 52) Doctor Strange Season One and Hawkeye: My Life as A Weapon.
  3. 4 sequels? I mean I guess that could work maybe, hopefully they go to more worlds than just Pandora... and more then just blue people, Avatar 2 I'm excited for. other than that meh...
  4. Ouch, even worse, yeah I said my estimations were a little rough. it must have had a massive marketing budget.
  5. I saw about 30 mintues of it a few years ago. even if i did watch it, it is incredibly unlikely it would make my top 100. Just like Citizen Kane is one of the most overrated pretentious films I've ever seen. even Metropolis which I really liked a lot wouldn't make my top 100.
  6. my data came from BOM MOS Budget: $225m WW gross: $668m the profit margin I used, which isn't exact and more a knowledgeable guess that films need to gross roughly 2.5x times their budget to break even: MOS Breakeven point: $562.5m -$668m = $105.5m profits Iron Man's Budget: $140m. WW gross: $585.2m Break Even Point (2.5x budget): $350m - $585.2m = $235.2m profits. sure I don't know all variables, but pretty much anyway you look at it Iron Man was more profitable. in fact probably even more so, becuase I'm almost certain Man of Steel had a larger marketing campaign.
  7. Well hollywood does seem to hold a stigma against older actresses, it's sad but true.
  8. well I said that, becuase I always felt a Black Window film should take place at least partially in the past. just not sure how long Scarlett Johansson could pull off a teen/early 20s persona, but maybe it won't be a prequel at all. Also I think you can't get any bigger after infinity War, I think the only way to go after that is smaller-scale and more personal. I just feel like Johansson might be completely exhausted with the character by the time this would get made, plus almost every phase 1 actor's contract is up by then, not sure if she will renew it or what. and I don't want to see another actress play Black Widow.
  9. Yeah I probably will, it looks to be easily to score. to bad though I kind of have a soft spot for The Punisher (2004). and Kick-Ass is awesome.
  10. What about Animated should they be eligible yes or no?
  11. Maybe, it's kind of hard to know what exactly is the highest rated. but by doing highest grossing you get so much garbage. doing the highest rating also eliminates every FF film lol.
  12. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I wasn't aware that Oldboy is a superhero film, or Akira, which is also animated.

  14. http://movieweb.com/black-widow-movie-marvel-phase-4/ There have been rumors of a Black Window film starring Scarlett Johansson for a long time, this isn't technically a confirmation, but it does appear it is definitely in plans for marvel down the road. What do you guys think will this film ever get made and when? Scarlett Johansson has already played this character 5 times and isn't getting any younger, and will most likely be 7 by the time this film comes out, is there really anything left to tell of her story or is it too little too late? really can't see this release before 2020. maybe fall 2019. I would still like to see it, but we'll see.
  15. This is in the vein of the top 64 highest grossing films bracket, only all superhero films, I've been wanting to do this for quite some time but haven't decided when, for one thing there doesn't seem to be a very big window for when there aren't new superhero films being released. I already got some work into this, but I could use some help. so this isn't technically the showdown yet. Instead of doing the top 64 highest grossing superhero films (adjusted). I was going to do the top 64 highest rated. should I do it this way or stick to the 64 highest grossers? (if so some fan favorites like Kick-Ass wouldn't make it) When should I start? I'll probably wait until at least Apocalypse releases to finalize this, but I'm think maybe I should wait until August/September for Suicide Squad (even though it's not exactly a superhero film). there are a few films listed as Superhero according to BOM that I'm not sure should really count. like Iron Monkey, I haven't seen it, but it's a martial arts movie from the looks of it, I feel it's not really a SH film though. and Mask of Zorro I'm not sure on either. I'll probably exclude animated films any objections to this? So what do you guys think do you want to participate in a SH bracket? and if so what are your suggestions? (and if so please don't turn this into the DC/Marvel thread or @Telemachos will have my ass).
  16. Not idiots, they just don't care that much about movies and how they work.
  17. Um, not sure where you got that info from.. the last Bourne film didn't star Matt Damon, the last one that did opened to $69m, and broke the August opening weekend record at the time. and is one of the highest acclaimed action films of all time. This is a reunion of Damon and Paul Greengrass. And with Damon coming hot off the success of The Martian. and The Bourne Ultimatum made nearly $290m adjusted to inflation.
  18. why don't you have Angry Birds and Neighbors 2 in the line up? both will almost certainly do over $100m.
  19. May 6 - Captain America: Civil War - $180m May 20 - Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising $45m - Angry Birds $49m May 27 - X-Men: Apocalypse - $85m - Alice Through the Looking Glass ~65m June 3 - TMNT: Out of the Shadows ~53m - Popstar ~$10m - Me Before You $17m June 10 - Conjuring 2 ~34m - Now You See Me 2 ~15m - Warcraft ~50m June 17 - Finding Dory ~120m - Central Intelligence ~20m June 24 - Independence Day: Resurgence ~80m - The Shallows ~20m July 1 - The BFG ~37m - The Purge: Election Year ~19m - The Legend of Tarzan ~44m July 8 - The Secret of Life of Pets ~57m - Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates ~21m July 15 - Ghostbusters ~29m July 22 - Star Trek Beyond $60m - Ice Age: Collision Course $37m July 29 - Jason Bourne - $90m August 5 - Suicide Squad $110m August 12 - Petes Dragon - $45m - Sausage Party ~29m August 26 - Mechanic: Resurrection ~12m - Don't Breathe ~10m
  20. I think they all have the same look, and it may limit them to an extant. but they are doing pretty well overall. especially considering all the moving piece they have to work with.
  21. In what universe is DC Pacing better than Marvel financially? they have had two films and both were letdowns BO wise for WB. Man of Steel I feel can be compared directly to IM, because they are both franchise starters, and IM made $318m/ MoS $292m. yes MoS Steel made more WW but it also cost $85m more to make. based on my (very rough) profit estimates MoS did about $105m in profits. IM made around $235m in profits. with a much higher critic approval and audience rating too. In fact I think that if MoS had performed better and done a very nice $325m+ and 750m+ WW like WB were hoping, with better reception, they would have gone right ahead with a MoS2. BvS was the answer to counter MoS's middling reception, and BO take, that although was profitable, was still slightly below BO expectations. I really feel like it is perfectly reasonable to compare BvS to The Avengers, they are both the first films in the series with major crossover characters, and they have the Trinity (bats/Sups/WW). there is really no excuse for this film not hitting $1b ww. with arguably the three most well known Superheroes of all time in a film together for the first time in history. love BvS or hate it (or MoS for that matter). you can't deny that it has had a diffusive audience reception, and the general woM has hurt it's legs a lot. As for its profits it will make maybe $200-$300m, profit. good right? well Avengers has done about $970m profits. in fact a $300m profit margin (which is being optimistic at this point) is about the same as WS had. The DCEU is in trouble, I'm begging and hoping Suicide Squad is good, becuase it looks great and I trust David Ayer 10x more than Zack Synder, but if that fails and WW fails then WB/DC is in serious trouble and will not last long after JL. if JL isn't any better recieved than bvS, I honestly I'm not even sure it will make profit.
  22. TDK is super overrated. there is like 15 SH films I could name that I like Better than TDK, and TDK is a mesperice compared to MoS and SvB.. and I would cry tears of joy if I heard Christopher Nolan were direing TJL.
