  1. I think having a marketing campaign that made the movie look incredibly bland didn't help and it doesn't help that based on the audience reviews it isn't even a crowd pleaser. The bottom line is the marketing didn't establish that there was going to be a single interesting character in this movie, none of the money shots they've showed in the trailers were anything special and the movie isn't giving us anything we haven't seen before.
  2. Lol. Disney isn't paying off critics. The people on this board who have pushed that agenda are fucking morons.
  3. I don't think Ant-Man is really that necessary either. The Iron Man, Captain America and Avengers movies are all important though.
  4. The reviews look fine (not great but fine) to me so far. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_bfg_2016/?search=the%20bfg
  5. Do we have any predictions as to how the Jungle Book is going to perform in South Korea?
  6. Yep and this year Batman v. Superman's 55% drop was the highest in the top 10, a number of films dropped below 50% and Zootopia dropped only 20%. You also had more schools out of session then which contributes to higher weekdays as well.

  8. Yep, only the 5th highest grossing weekend of all time. Oh no, what a travesty. I can't wait for people to be disappointed if Episode VIII only opens up to like $225 million next year.
  9. Yep. I feel like The Force Awakens has completely thrown opening weekend expectations out of wack for people when there are some that are disappointed with $25 million in previews or a potential $180 million opening weekend. Similar to people slamming Batman v. Superman opening up to $166 which while maybe a little below expectations was still gigantic (now the rest of that movies run is another story altogether).
  10. Disney would have a really good chance at having 5 1B grossers this year if Jungle Book and Zootopia both hit that mark with Civil War, Rogue one and Finding Dory still to come.
  11. Yeah, I'm failing to see how a roughly 40% drop after a 100+ million weekend can be seen as anything other than fantastic. And in fact, while I probably missed something because I only took a quick look, I think the only $100+ mil openers with a sub 40% second weekend drop were Spiderman, Shrek 2 and The Force Awakens and both Shrek 2 and The Force Awakens benefited from holidays in their second weekend.
  12. Red Dawn was actually filmed and originally scheduled for release before Thor (although it did actually get released before Thor).
  13. Eh, Zootopia droped 30.7% coming off a smaller Tuesday bump than what Jungle Book got.
  14. Why are you giving Huntsman good holds? It isn't going to have sub 40% holds.
  15. Yeah, comparing this to the 8th movie in a franchise that had a large but limited fanbase makes a ton of sense. Harry Potter wasn't going to add a whole bunch of new fans or grow its audience at this point. And that film still had substantially better legs than what BvS will wind up with while facing actual competition. DH2 faced a 65 million opener in its second week and then multiple 30+ million openers in its 3rd week. BvS has faced absolutely nothing and it is still dropping like a rock every day.
  16. Yeah, I don't buy for a second that 7 out of 10 people liked this movie when it is having some of the worst legs we have ever seen for a major blockbuster.
