True. That's definitely more the exception than the rule though. Skyfall may be the only 300m movie period to have such a large over 25 share. Maybe Passion did as well, not sure.
Hey I'll be 25 in about a year and a half myself. Unfortunately though, the over 25 crowd is not what tends to drive blockbusters. You need the teens in particular.
I think ST09 piqued the interest of the young crowd for the first time with Star Trek. But then this 4 year wait lost the attention of the new young audience the series gained, and now it's gone back to just having the older fanbase its always had.
3d for nearly every blockbuster needs to stop. I'm not gonna say 3d altogether should die, because I have really enjoyed it when used right, but it needs to go back to being more of an event thing. Maybe 4-6 movies a year have it, and they all utilize it. Post converted 3d in particular needs to die.
Actually was expecting worse, but that's still pretty bad. I visited my cousins in North Dakota a few years back, and 4 of us went to a matinee Transformers 2 showing. $10 for all 4 of us.
Well I didn't know what kind of format you saw it in, hence why I added the + after 20. I shoulda known it was more than that though if you live in LA.
Not really true. As Tele showed us yesterday, ST 1-4 grossed fairly consistently and near ST09 adjusted. So ST did have a good box office run back in the beginning. ST09 was just the first in a long time to be big.

They'll do fine of course, but it's the first year in a long time they don't have anything locked for at least 200. CA2 and Good Dinosaur have good shots, but they aren't locked. And there's also a lot of potential bombs scheduled (Need For Speed, Bears, Guardians of the Galaxy, Big Hero 6, Tomorrowland)
