  1. Yeah, weak competition from TH3 means F6 could make even more than most of us anticipated.
  2. Guessing The Heat will be the #1 comedy of the summer now. Kinda had the feeling all along it would be.
  3. Actually the first "Floppit" of the year was IM3, because it made a shitload of profit like "Floppit", which was ya know the 3rd or 4th most profitable film of 2012.
  4. So glad I went low for it in the summer game, though I'm wishing I would have went lower now. Who knew 170m would be way too high!

  6. Yeah, but ol' Vinny was talking BP shot.
  7. True. That's definitely more the exception than the rule though. Skyfall may be the only 300m movie period to have such a large over 25 share. Maybe Passion did as well, not sure.
  8. They don't drive PG-13 blockbusters. Hence why none of them make much over 200 w/o a big teen crowd on board.
  9. Hey I'll be 25 in about a year and a half myself. Unfortunately though, the over 25 crowd is not what tends to drive blockbusters. You need the teens in particular.
  10. I think ST09 piqued the interest of the young crowd for the first time with Star Trek. But then this 4 year wait lost the attention of the new young audience the series gained, and now it's gone back to just having the older fanbase its always had.
  11. Yikes at the audience being 73% 25 or over. That's the problem right there. This didn't attract young people.
  12. 3d for nearly every blockbuster needs to stop. I'm not gonna say 3d altogether should die, because I have really enjoyed it when used right, but it needs to go back to being more of an event thing. Maybe 4-6 movies a year have it, and they all utilize it. Post converted 3d in particular needs to die.
  13. Actually was expecting worse, but that's still pretty bad. I visited my cousins in North Dakota a few years back, and 4 of us went to a matinee Transformers 2 showing. $10 for all 4 of us.
  14. I know I've never paid $18 for one! $17.50 is the Imax 3D here, and that's as high as it goes.
  15. Well I didn't know what kind of format you saw it in, hence why I added the + after 20. I shoulda known it was more than that though if you live in LA.
  16. Not really true. As Tele showed us yesterday, ST 1-4 grossed fairly consistently and near ST09 adjusted. So ST did have a good box office run back in the beginning. ST09 was just the first in a long time to be big.
  17. I never see DWA movie rankings, so just for the hell of it here's mine: 1. How to Train Your Dragon - A+ 2. Shrek - A 3. Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit - A 4. Chicken Run - A 5. Kung Fu Panda - A- 6. The Croods - B+ 7. Shrek 2 - B+ 8. Madagascar 3 - B+ 9. Kung Fu Panda 2 - B+ 10. The Prince of Egypt - B 11. Puss in Boots - B 12. Megamind - B- 13. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron - B- 14. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa - B- 15. Monsters vs Aliens - B- 16. Shrek Forever After - B- 17. Rise of the Guardians - C+ 18. Antz - C+ 19. Madagascar - C 20. The Road to El Dorado - C- 21. Sinbad - D 22. Shrek the Third - F 23. Shark Tale - F
  18. Shrek 3, Shark Tale, and Sinbad are the only DWA movies I like less than Cars 2. Never seen Flushed Away, Over the Hedge, or Bee Movie.
  19. True, although most of them are better than Cars 2, and a lot are even better than Brave. Especially the recent ones.
  20. They'll do fine of course, but it's the first year in a long time they don't have anything locked for at least 200. CA2 and Good Dinosaur have good shots, but they aren't locked. And there's also a lot of potential bombs scheduled (Need For Speed, Bears, Guardians of the Galaxy, Big Hero 6, Tomorrowland)
