  1. SM3 was pre social media though. WOM has only started impacting movies on OW since Facebook came into relevance.
  2. With the way things are going it could end up closer to 185m with TA's Sun hold. Then it would just need IM2's exact multi (2.43) to beat TDKR.
  3. Calling it right now, Thor is locked for 100m+ OW.
  4. OW is not too early for WOM these days, hence why movies with toxic WOM fall off right away on Saturday and movies like TA blow everyone's Sat/Sun expectations away. But yeah this case is probably more the TA effect than anything.
  5. Maybe initial WOM for this is far stronger than any of us imagined? Wow.
  6. Well it didn't seem like it. I guess there were just so many sequels that year they did all add up to a decent gross despite mostly being lackluster to track individually. And we did at least have TF3/DH2. 2014 doesn't have one movie like that.
  7. I think all the sequels besides the 3 I mentioned will. Future Past should be locked to increase over First Class and Dragon and Apes should be near locks to increase over their predecessors. By how much though? It's not like any of those 3 movies were gargantuan hits. Dragon is the only one that even cracked 200m.
  8. Yeah kayumanggi, I know the schedule for next summer. Nothing very exciting. Aside from Apes, Xmen, and Dragon all those sequels are pretty unwanted and bound to drop. JP4 being a wild card still. And not much in the way of potential original breakouts. Looks very summer 2011, but with nothing on the level of even DH2 or TF3.
  9. Dragon 2 could be the star of next summer. Only if it's good though to capitalize on the extreme goodwill from the first.
  10. And Captain America isn't even summer anyways. All I'm really looking forward to next summer are Dawn of The Planet of the Apes, Days of Future Past, and Dragon 2. Would like to look forward to JP4 but 2 and 3 burned me too much.
  11. Yeah summer 2014 is looking pretty dismal compared to this year's and especially 2015's. Hell, even the shudder inducing summer 2011 might be better. I still can't get over TASM2 being the big "event summer opener."
  12. Although, I must admit this spoof poster of Battleship for Hungry Hungry Hippos I found last year does look kinda epic.
  13. Just be thankful Battleshit bombed or we'd have Monopoly and Chutes and Ladders this summer, and Operation, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and Clue next summer.
  14. Depp was probably the worst part of AWE for me. I still think AWE would be above DMC for most people if Depp's performance wasn't so annoying. Then he was just flat out stale and boring in OST, in a stale and boring movie. I still enjoy some of the spectacle of DMC and AWE, but for the most part the series in general is useless after the first movie.
  15. Look at Depp in POTC versus RDJ in the Marvel movies. Both have done the same amount, and yet there's a world of difference between the effort each is putting in. Depp is simply there for the money now. While RDJ obviously wants the money too, he puts his heart and soul into it still.
  16. You have every right to be upset about a bet that involved money. If he didn't intend to ever pay he should of just bet sig/avatar rights like most of us do.
  17. Don't count out Catching Fire and the two Mockingjays from stealing some of those top 4 OW positions by then though.
  18. Hmm, I can see where you're coming from there but I actually think it did need to be in the trailer. The TA trailers were surprisingly lackluster compared to the movie, and that was the one shot in the trailers I remember did really generate buzz. It was already iconic before the movie came out. Otherwise I'm not sure if the marketing would have been quite as effective because there wasn't a whole lot of other memorable stuff shown.
  19. This x 1000. God that movie was an absolute blast to see in a sold-out theater. I don't think I've ever felt an audience having that much collective fun in a movie as I did the midnight and Friday night screenings I saw for it.
  20. Yeah and she didn't even give us a midnight report until well into the early morning. Hmm, I think our queen is slipping. May be time to dig out that old sacrificial altar.
