  1. What's up with these internet voices of wanting a Snyder cut? Because his cut on MoS turned out so damn good? It's like prefering a Snyder-cut piece of shit over a non-Snyder-cut piece of shit.
  2. The most beloved animated movie of all time is Toy Story or Finding Nemo. @baumer agrees with this.
  3. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be extremely hard to make big money when Avatar 2 hits the theather.
  4. If I2 beats Rogue One, which is quite likely atm, Disney will have 3 movies into top 10 of DOM all time in one year: BP, IW2 and I2. Wordwide BP and IW2 made into the Top10 as well. Now we only need I2 to make more than HP2 WW which is 1.34BN and and it will be in top10 WW too. What a crazy year for Disney.
  5. JW2's under-performing leads to another question that @IronJimbo will find interesting: Will Avatar sequels be the only opponent to Disney's dominance in the following years? I mean if you look at the top 10 all time list, JW2 was said to have to a shot but now it's clearly out of the question. What other studios' future projects could challenge it? None, except Avatar sequels. And what does Disney have in its pocket that is guaranteed to be a monstrous hit? TA: IW2, SW9 and many of the live action adaptation of its beloved animations (such as TLK, Mulan) http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/domestic.htm And to think about it, Avatar sequels might even be titled as Disney's movies before hitting the theater.
  6. FRIDAY AM UPDATE: Disney and Pixar's Incredibles 2 launched with a massive $18.5 million from Thursday previews. Not only is this the largest preview gross ever for an animated feature, it more than doubles the previous record set by Finding Dory with $9.2 million. In fact, it's more than the preview grosses for the likes of Beauty and the Beast ($16.3m), Spider-Man: Homecoming ($15.4m), Thor: Ragnarok ($14.5m) and Justice League ($13m). At this point Finding Dory's $135 million record opening for an animated title would appear to be an afterthought as it's now merely a question of just how high will Incredibles 2 fly?
  7. WOW I didn't even know there was gonna be live action Dumbo movie, but, oh boy what a teaser trailer. Disney got itself another big hit coming.
  8. So it's confirmed: You dont get to be a James Cameron fanboy without being skilled in Photoshop work.
  9. What's up with the new forum theme? Looks terrible.
  10. Shy away from politics?? James fucking Cameron publicly "slammed" other well-loved blockbusters, so why would he shy away from something less challenging.
  11. The trailer is exactly showing what I don't like to see in the movie. That bumblebee-scared & huddled up-like-a-puppy scene is such an awkward and facepalm moment. The goddamn cheesy The Iron Gaint vibe. A fucking robot showing its sensitive side by gently holding a human in its arms and gently closing its eyes is even an more awkward and facepalm moment. I really felt uncomfortable watching this trailer.
  12. Hey, this looks like it could a really useful emoticon on this site.
  13. Obviously you're not a golfer. It's one of the greatest dipshit characters in cinema history. From one of the greatest Christmas movies ever Die Hard.
  14. I think a lot of the BBC documentaries were introduced to the US with a big name actor/actress being the narrator. It helps getting the awareness, but the down side is of cause that the audience getting a 1-hour of emotionless reading.
  15. Oh that's a no brainer. But then David Attenborough dwarfs everyone else when it comes to narrating nature documentaries.
  16. Wait, what if this actually made that love story, not less, but more appealing???
  17. If I have to recommend a deep sea documentary I will choose the ones from BBC, such as Blue Planet II from last year. I've watched all of his deep sea documentaries and frankly they tasted rather pale comparing to the BBC ones. I appreciate his passion and it's always amazing to see a guy fullfilling his own passion (which is something most of we normal person don't/won't/coudn't do), but when it comes to the documentary itself, the BBC ones are just a lot more "entertaining and educational". But then again BBC is the king in this field, so it's not exactly surprising.
  18. Someone commented this vid as James Cameron taking notes from the world's greatest directors for making Avatar better
  19. Dynamic range Alexa 65 14+ stops Venice 15+ stops Red 8K 17+ stop So Venice isn't exactly the top notch in terms of dynamic range. And of cause his DP will only say nice things. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Venice is a medicore camera. I'm just disappointed Cameron didn't went for the best.
  20. Familiarity obviously played a key role on Cameron's decision. Like he said in the video, he's been using this sony camera system for so many years.
  21. A 54.12mm x 25.58mm sensor captures better image quality than a 36.2x24.1mm one. It's just as simple as IMAX captures better image quality than 35mm. I do agree that specs are not everything, but in the sense of that a major part of Avatar sequels will be pure CGI, and that has little to do with the camera used for live action shooting. In other words, when you're watching Avatar sequels you are watching CGI most of the time, so the camera obviously wont matter as much to the image quality as it does on films with little to no CGI such as The Revenant or Dunkirk.
  22. Just checked the camera specifs and frankly I'm a little disappointed. Alexa 65 and Red 8K both have clearly better overal capability than Sony Venice. I thought on his most personal & longest production Cameron will choose the absolute best camera, but instead he just went for the one he's most familiar with. What a shame. https://pro.sony/ue_US/products/digital-cinema-cameras/venice#ProductSpecificationsBlock-venice http://arrirentalgroup.com/alexa65/ http://www.red.com/products/dsmc2
