  1. And...? Most markets will be affected by any of those 3 and a couple of countries you listed sees Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs releasing a week after.
  2. I've taken a brief look at Man of Steel's pre-sales at a few locations. Very disappointing ticket sales overall. 2D is doing better than 3D but viewers will be forced to watch 3D once 2D gets full.
  3. It's going to be very interesting watching Debra this season.
  4. Don't see this doing well with Despicable Me 2/Smurfs 2/Monsters University combo.
  5. Overheard 3 is delayed till 2014. I also read The Monkey King is coming out Chinese New Year 2014.
  6. He also directed Dream Home, a slasher film centered on a woman who has troubles with owning a property.
  7. It's a film that reunites Pang Ho Cheung and Chapman To. Pang Ho Cheung directed the Love in a Puff series and Vulgaria and is becoming very popular among the young crowd. Chapman To was in Vulgaria and it become the highest grossing local film of 2011. Most theaters have put Man of Steel on 3 screens with a few outliers giving 4 at night. Pre-sales have not been good at all. It should recover enough to snatch the #2 OW of 2013 away from World War Z. Epic begins Hollywood's animation block this summer. Theaters don't seem enthused by it and viewers are waiting for Monsters University to come out. Big mistake by FOX to release it against Man of Steel. They should have forgone the summer release strategy and put it up earlier. Now it has to deal with Man of Steel opening weekend, Despicable Me 2 next weekend and Monsters University the week after. There won't be time to create legs with direct competition and blockbusters towering over it. Pre-sales have looked bad. Badges of Fury has been showing everyday since last Friday at most locations but some theaters have opted not to show it after its weekend sneaks. Weekend previews were not reported so it looks like they want to roll the previews into opening weekend to make the number look better. Holdovers crumbled under the weight of Superman. Those near the bottom of last week's top 10 have been effectively crushed by the openers and superb holdovers in World War Z and Now You See Me. World War Z is getting 1 screen at most places and will be trying for 1m again this week. Now You See Me has been left on 1 screen due to its great opening and 2nd weekend. Thursday schedules
  9. Man of Steel's advanced ticketing release pattern is so strange. MCL released pre-selling 2 weeks ago like any other blockbuster. Extremely good for Miracle in Cell No. 7. After Earth collapsed hard. Fast & Furious 6 dove hard but will get to 3.1m by Wednesday. So Young is not pulling people in. WOM is also lukewarm at best. Badges of Fury is being ignored by audiences but those that have shown up are giving it great WOM. The Great Gatsby is holding OK. 12. Pee Mak Phra Khanong - 679 (-72.9%) 13. This breakout is brought to you by Brad Pitt's Chanel commercial. There is a wide range where World War Z can finish opening weekend due to the typhoon. I have put it down for anywhere between 1.8-2.4m. What a great hold for Now You See Me. World War Z owns the stage and Now You See Me survives anyway. 2m will be broken this weekend and 3m is locked. Both movies having superb opening weekends is not good news for Man of Steel. Hangover 3 dropped off with World War Z on the map but it will get to 1.5m even if it has to crawl there when Man of Steel opens. It'll end as a slight disappointment for failing to meet Hangover 2's total. Fast & Furious 6 had a pretty good hold. It'll get to 3.1m. Total disaster for Switch. This is doing worse than Future X-Cops. It will be Andy Lau's lowest grossing feature in HK. Pee Mak Phra Khanong is still doing well. It will get to $10m HK. After Earth fell off the face of the Earth in rapid fashion. This clunker won't get to 1.5m. Another very good hold for American Dreams in China. Amazing WOM for Miracle in Cell No. 7 has sparked its 2nd weekend, easing just 4%. It will pass at least $150,000. So Young is not grabbing Hong Kong audiences.
