  1. Starts screening for critics on Wednesday it seems. Also, 130m budget for this? Wtf?
  2. this thread almost moves like a pre-pandemic OW thread for a Nolan / Star Wars movie or something lol wtf
  3. Brie Larson made a bizarre in-your-face-holier-than-thou speech on stage at one of those Hollywood event about white film critics(probably the least important profession in the world btw lol) and anyone who steps into politics or the culture wars is going to get some kind of hate train. The youtube grifter crowd has seemed to make her public enemy number #1 though. Now Daisy Ridley, that one I don't understand whatsoever. She was good in her role and from what I've seen she seems like a nice person and its not like she had anything to do with the creative direction the ST went with TLJ/TROS.
  4. guys I don't have the time to read all these long posts, keep it snappy
  5. gotta throw in that bad out of place music in there to try and appeal to the younglings
  6. 1. Andor 2. Mando 1 3. Mando 2 4. Ahsoka 5. Mando 3 5. Obi-Wan 7. Boba Fett
  7. I think there's a 50% chance he finishes The Winds of Winter before he croaks. You can just forget about the one after that though.
  8. Show started off bad, got pretty good in the middle, and then kinda fell off again the last 2 episodes. Some of the biggest continued problems with these Disney Star Wars shows are large logic gaps in the storytelling, underdeveloped characterization, and setting up for future seasons/other shows which leaves you with an overall feeling of incompleteness. Ahsoka felt like a blank slate and the least compelling character in her own show, and that's saying something with Sabine who looked and acted like an annoying angsty teenager the whole time. And yeah, you definitely felt the complete absence of the two most best characters in this finale which were the two dark Jedis/Siths/whatever. The grunting Zombie Troopers were really funny, but at this point I don't know how anyone can still get mad about that kind of stuff in Star Wars. After 2 very underwhelming movie trilogies and roughly a 50% batting average on these shows, if you're someone who is still very much into the Star Wars lore, mythos, continuity, etc. then you're a trooper. But to me its basically Terminator at this point, I no longer care whatsoever and just hope for an entertaining time.
  9. Apple and Amazon don't give a shit about this stuff, to them streaming is basically a sideshow to impress their girlfriends. Its why Apple can casually drop 200 million on a period drama like this(or another 200 million on Napoleon) or Amazon can commit to lighting a billion+ on fire with those bad fantasy shows.
  10. So I just re-watched this on Disney+ and it took me 2 days so yeah my opinion hasn't really changed. It re-affirms my belief that this is James Cameron's first real misfire, this is a shockingly sloppy movie from someone like him. It is so long and so dull with a very clunky and meandering screenplay. We can bitch about Avatar 1's stock characters / recycled story/cliches all day until we're blue in the face, but at least that movie was paced pretty well with little to no fat on it. Here, so much of the movie just feels like random scenes happening playing in a sequence without any real forward narrative momentum. A lot of the dialogue is really bad(bro, cuz, etc) and even the action in this underwhelming which you couldn't say for that big battle in the first movie. Also, there is some real dumb shit in this movie stood out a lot more this time. Stephen Lang's general just so happened to have a fucking newborn baby on Pandora in the last movie? Also, did they just completely forget about the all important 'unobtainium' this time around or do the earthlings now only care about that fountain of youth whale juice now? And Sygourney Weaver's Avatar gave a virgin birth to a new Sygourney Weaver Navi that has godlike powers over nature? Really, this is what we're doing now? Lastly, wtf is the Way of Water? The only thing of note here is some of the visual sequences. 3/10
  11. the amount of imagery lifted straight out of LOTR in this episode got a good laugh out of me
  12. yeah those actors swimming around in tanks with dots on their faces, exciting stuff
