Around $90 million for the week. I wonder if it can have another week like this.
Brasil might give us a strong opening weekend. They love their Disney animation.
Not really. All I could say is Frozen is the only film out right now with exceptional word of mouth.
A lot of movies are considered okay at best by the general public. Doesn't explain everything though. Maybe we should wait for actuals. Frozen might be overestimated.
By the end of the weekend is possible. It was doing gangbusters over Christmas here in The Netherlands and I see no reason why it isn't doing the same in France, Germany etc.
The holidays are wide open for Frozen. It will dominate.
The biggest victory is of course outgrossing Monsters University. Nothing more awesome than to see Disney back in business.
The Grinch is a guilty pleasure for a LOT of people. Me included.
I find Jim Carrey irresistibly hilarious in it. He was still at the top of his game. Regardless of the fact that it wasn't anything like the original book.
Giants is based on Jack and the Beanstalk... a story that has a princess. That one will definitely be a musical. And it'll be in the exact same spirit as Tangled and Frozen.
There may be competition for screens coming up, but Frozen is one of very few kid friendly picks for families this christmas. It should hang on to enough screens to keep the momentum going.
Actually,
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (not mentioned in the film, but they are dead)
Bambi
Cinderella
The Sword in The StoneJungle Book
The Rescuers (they might be alive, but Penny was an orphan nonetheless)Fox and the HoundLion KingHunchback of Notre DameTarzan
Lilo & StitchBrother Bear
The Princess and Frog (Tiana's father)
It's just how Disney rolls...
Live action still has a long way to go actually. Nothing has happened since Brokeback Mountain. And that film was supposed to change things.
Disney can just be Disney for now. Frozen really keeps WDAS' momentum going. I love it.
