  1. This is way too appealing to only do John Carter numbers.
  2. Obviously. All of Disney's recent films have been marketed towards a general audience.
  3. The Three Caballeros has its moments for sure. A bit underrated among the 1940s films. Anyway, I've seen all 52 features.
  4. The Wizard of Oz is very popular here in The Netherlands. Even the abomination known as 'The Wiz', the stage musical, was a big hit several years back. Wicked is ridiculously popular here as well and the show's Dutch leading lady is currently headlining Wicked on Broadway. And 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' is an iconic song often used in TV shows and commercials. Wicked was a big hit in Germany as well. It may not be the same everywhere, but it's not like The Wizard of Oz is an unknown property everywhere outside the US.
  5. Tarantino is not the right director for this. He would have to put his ego aside. I'd rather he make his own movies than attempt to do a franchise film and anger the fan community. They will be out for blood.
  6. I think this will do terrible in Asia, with maybe the exception of Japan. Europe, Australia and South America will devour it.
  7. It did well on opening weekend here in The Netherlands. Not huge, but it ranked third overall. They were smart to release it right after the Oscars. Jennifer's win garnered some buzz.
  8. Because it was: As it was with A Good Day to Die Hard’s UK debut,Wreck-It Ralph dropped to second as a result of the preview-boosted UK opening of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. Disney can still be mightily pleased with Wreck-It Ralph’s fourth weekend though as a further $2.1m (£1.4m) saw it past the £20m mark in the UK to stand at $30.72m (£20.43m). That puts the 3D animation set in the world of arcade games narrowly behind Tangled’s $30.79m (£20.47m) which it will surpass this week.
  9. It would be such amazing icing on the cake if it can make it to $500 million. But it would have to break out in Japan and that market is so unpredictable right now. I think the Nintendo and SEGA connection can make it connect to audiences, but that's just wishful thinking on my part right now. Tangled did 'okay' two years ago. And that opened on the weekend of the Tsunami/Fukushima meltdown, which wasn't really a time where the Japanese were excited to go to the movies. We'll see soon enough.
  10. I could be wrong, but I don't think they had anything planned for DisneyNature's future at all. It was Chimpanzee's success that led to the announcement of Bears for 2014. Either way, I'm glad the label didn't die a slow death. The films aren't brilliant, but there's a lack of these type of films for kids so I'm happy it's still around.
  11. I saw this coming. I even said it on another forum around the time ROTG opened. The Shrek cash-flow has slowed down and they haven't been able to deliver a consistent level of quality that will allow for them to keep the amount of employees they have. It's sad. Because it used to be the best place to work for an animator. Meanwhile, WDAS hasn't had any lay-offs in a while and this summer they will, for the first time in a long time, have two films in development simultaneously. Here's to hoping some of the talented animators will find work there or elsewhere.
  12. I felt ROTG had terrible trailers and looked incredibly unappealing. The movie was a bit better than the trailers suggested, but still... I don't think it's a good comparison for Frozen, which is a Disney musical/fairytale. It's nice for the UK that they won't have to wait so long for once.
  13. Granny, Shriekapoo, fat kiwi shit.... Fishnets, I have absolutely NO idea who you are referring to 90% of the time.
  14. I think it could do great considering its winter theme. could perform like a Christmas movie.
  15. My favorite moment of the night: We get it Joaquin, the whole thing is just a big, glitzy show filled with BS. You're not the only one on earth aware of this. You could, for once, laugh it off and go along with it. If Daniel can do it, so can you. And if not, please keep this face. I'm in gif-heaven.
  16. Still, very impressive for WIR. It will make over $250 million from current markets. If Japan does well it will come very close to $300 million.
  17. I wonder what WIR's UK total is so far...
  18. Yeah it's pretty crazy. The Hobbit's failure is baffling. Hollywood needs to examine what it's doing wrong in Japan.
  19. Impressive for Les Mis and Ted. Good to see two Hollywood films that were both good perform well. I'm curious as to how Wreck-It Ralph will perform. I'm hoping it does well, but I've been burnt by Brave. That film looked perfect for the Japanese market, but pretty much failed completely. Anyone with more knowledge on this?
