Really great, tense stuff.
I feel like some of it has been done before, but it's done so well, and Jack O'Connell is fantastic and totally believable as a hardened chav. Like, those accents, holy shit- we needed subtitles just to follow the plot. So he brought a huge intensity to the role but there were also moments of real vulnerability including the climax where his dad rescues him from the prison guards.
Also some interesting commentary on familial relationships and homosexuality in jail.

I am shocked at Unbroken bombing in China. I thought there was a lot of buzz. UB needed one smash market OS and now it appears not to get it. That sucks.
This was nice, and I generally enjoyed it and thought the acting was great, but all I was thinking while watching the movie was "I've seen this before, many, many times".
And yes Kristen Wiig is just awesome, she can do comedy and drama, would like to see her start getting more recognition.

There's nothing to it!
Like, I get it. Not everyone's life is so interesting and dramatic. But if you're going to tell a story of someone's entire adolescence, at least have a compelling narrative. My roommate and I were falling asleep.
I'm pissed off that this is THE story of the season. Please.
Yeah so I kind of hated Boyhood. Beyond the 12 years a movie experience, it was kinda pointless? And very poorly acted. What's with the Patricia Arquette praise? She wasn't all that.
