Quiet months for Hollywood movies in Indonesia. But not the case with local movies. Particularly a comedy movie, "Agak Laen", is making a splash right now with growing admission numbers.
Day 1 = 181,689
Day 2 = 195,964 / 377,653
Day 3 = 305,299 / 682,952
Day 4 = 330,038 / 1,012,990
Day 5 = 278,188 / 1,291,178
Day 6 = 280,193 / 1,571,371
Day 7 = 323,096 / 1,894,467
Day 8 = 556,533 / 2,451,000 (projection)
With a long weekend just started, a day off on Election Day, great reviews and a very strong WOM, it will keep growing, possibly to be one of the biggest movies ever.
With 4 other local movies playing at the same time, it feels like a mini Eid week. Eid Holiday week is usually when a number of local blockbusters are released together and the box office numbers are the biggest within a year, kinda like Chinese New Year in China.

Wait, are these numbers until Sunday? Cause that's very low for Indonesia compared to tracking. Cinepoint tracking says $5.2M OW:

We have OW numbers in Indonesia and the Philippines. That's a good indicator.

Very cautious OD tracking
Barbie $451K
Oppenheimer $320K
Doraemon $55K
People snoring in Oppenheimer shows reported.
Parental walkouts during Barbie also reported.
We'll see how WOM works out for these two.
Bear in mind that yesterday was a public holiday.
I kinda suspected many parents would bring their kids to Barbie, thinking that it's a family/kids movie. I mean, it's Barbie after all. I guess I was right. And we know that it is not a kids movie, at all. Hence the walk outs. Most people at my show yesterday were adults and teens though. And many of them seemed to enjoy it. I still think WOM will be mixed-to-positive.

i mean i expect it to get 9.5 at least knowing that it was crowd pleaser. i'm also surprised oppenheimer got 9.2, i dont think indonesian enjoy this kind of movie.
I think it's kinda expected. A female-centric movie with a strong feminism message and a 3-hour biopic drama, are not the kind of movies that most people here enjoy very much. That's why I was actually surprised Barbie got really strong presales. The marketing really worked. They are getting pretty good ratings on Cinepoint though, with a 9 for Oppenheimer. So at least they are well-liked by Cinepoint users.

was oppenheimer good?
Yesss. Very captivating. It's a long movie, but I wanna see it again if I have time.

Why? I saw it's getting 8.7. A little bit on the low side, but not that bad. Insidious got an 8. Having said that, I can imagine Barbie getting strong reactions from some people here.

Pre-sales here in Indonesia look really strong. Wednesday, its opening day, being a public holiday also helps. Usually only big action blockbuster or superhero movies, or sometimes horror (like Insidious or the Conjuring franchise) have strong pre-sales, and Barbie is far from those genres, but here we are.

Tracking around 3.3M first 3 days in Indonesia (Wed-Fri).

Just saw this. Thrilling, intense, exciting, entertaining, stylish, with drama, humor, and of course great actions. Also loved the characters and what the actors did with them. WOM will be amazing.

BiBO says $927K-$981K until FRI
Should be $1.46M-$1.54M by SAT.
No pure numbers ~ just range data.
So that $750K was for 2 days, not 3 days.

- GotG3 passed that number with ease

Thanks! I was wondering what happened since Scream V was released ~
The reason is still unclear. At first it was rumored that it didn't get a release because it was too gory and violent. But all Halloween reboot movies and Evil Dead Rise are here, so, obviously not that. Then it was because of its LGBTQ content. But as long as it's not too heavy, it should have been fine. Many other movies with the same content were still released (Eternals, Fantastic Beast 3, Thor 4, Shazam 2, Doctor Strange 2, etc).

GotG3:
OD 330K est. adm (Cinepoint tracking)
9/10 rating on Cinepoint app
Occupancy rates are high, numbers will grow. It might open lower than Ant-Man 3, but has a chance to have a higher total, since Ant-Man 3's legs were horrible.

Indonesia:
OD 330K est. adm (Cinepoint tracking), around $1M+. 9/10 rating on Cinepoint app. Very good opening and rating. Reactions on social media are overwhelmingly positive. WOM looks great. Occupancy rates are high, so more showtimes will be added. The number is expected to grow throughout the week. Will likely have an OW bigger than Vol. 2, and total too since legs are promising.

Suzume opened at #1 in Indonesia. With a score of 9 on Cinepoint app, WOM looks really strong.
Also, Waktu Maghrib, a local horror became the first Indonesian film and 2nd overall (after Ant-Man 3), to pass 2M adm this year. With 343K adm on its 4-day OW, it has gotten a very leggy 5.8x multiplier so far.

Right now? Actually, no restrictions whatsoever anymore. But for some reason, we still don't have showtimes after 10 pm, which were very common pre-Covid.

You should consider Indonesia Market is far bigger than 2018…This is the developed market.
57 minutes ago, kayumanggi said:That's why I won't really consider it THAT solid. It should have increased.
Not really. Indonesia has not yet gotten fully back to pre-pandemic level in terms of showtimes. Also yes, it was about 5 years ago, but remember the growth of the market was disrupted for almost 3 years. I would say that overall, the market right now is only slightly bigger than 2019/early 2020.
Indonesia Box Office 2023 - thanks for updating

Close enough. Still above 500k, which doesn't change the fact that it's a crazy number.
