  1. That's still not answering the question. Why did they lose more audience in SK than in the US? The quality of the movies is the same everywhere right?
  2. You forgot to mention one important thing: it was the #1 movie in Indonesia last week. Weekly top 3 by estimated admissions last week (Jan 23-29): 1. A Man Called Otto - 276,833 (+127%) - 452,285 total 2. Bayi Ajaib - 211,903 (+26%) - 391,900 total 3. Mangkujiwo 2 - 205,559 (new) - 205,559 total
  3. If I remember correctly, the ticket prices increased on Eid Holiday for a period of time, and then it decreased again, back to normal. DS:MoM was released at the start of Eid holiday. Maybe that's why.
  4. You mean Chinese New Year? Yes we have that. But only one day off on Monday. And that's not even a public holiday. Also starting tomorrow, there will be 7 new movies this week. A2 will have to give its screens to them. I hope so. But I'm not sure. It's dropping hard, due to so many competitions. In a market like this, competition is the biggest enemy.
  5. I saw the tweet earlier but I realized the typo just now. LOL
  6. But the numbers on BOM don't match the numbers reported for capital region too. I'm just trying to figure out where the numbers on BOM came from. Because based on the numbers here, A2 in Thailand is performing exceptionally well, compared to most countries in SEA, since it's very rare for a blockbuster Hollywood movie to have box office numbers in Thailand very close to Indonesia.
  7. I've been wondering, why are A2's numbers reported in this thread for Thailand are very different from the ones on BOM? For example, according to BOM, it only made $12.9M until the 3rd weekend. Meanwhile, they are pretty consistent for the other countries.
  8. KKN di Desa Penari passed 10M admits today. The first Indonesian film to do so.
  9. Holding well is an understatement. It's holding amazingly, considering Indonesia is a typically frontloaded market, especially for Hollywood movies. It had a much lower OW than Thor 4, BP2 and DS2, but it has beaten the first two easily, and is challenging DS2 (which had Eid holiday advantage this year). But yeah, I would say the target now is beating DS2. That would be #4 imported movie of all time, and #6 overall. 7M admits will put it in the top 5 overall.
  10. The official reported number for AEG is $35,156,232 or 10,976,338 admits. But there is an unofficial estimated numbers by Bicara Box Office, which is 11,3M admits. At first, it seemed that KKN would surpass AEG's official number. Even the unofficial looked doable. But now it looks like the extended version is not holding that well, so we're not sure anymore.
  11. Some 2022 Year-End statistics: Tickets sold: 96M Indonesian films share: 57% (54.87M - all time record) Most attended Indonesian films (2022 broke the record for most films with 2M+ adm): Numbers of admission for Indonesia films from 2007 (2022 broke 2019's records): 2022 films with best ratings on Cinepoint app:
  12. It's actually 286K in 2 days, and about 360K in 3 days. Tracked numbers have been revised. I don't see $25M yet. I don't even think $20M is locked, but it's very likely. Leggy films usually drop fast after a few weeks. The market just cannot hold screens that long. That's my reasonable thought. My hopeful thought, it might beat NWH's gross. That would be amazing.
  13. According to BOM 1st week (Wed-Sun): $4,902,818 - $4,902,81 total 2nd week (Wed-Sun): $4,763,606 (-2.8%) - $12,164,993 total That's around 3,7M adm until last Sunday. So i would say the legs are exceptional so far. As for beating KKN, that's almost impossible. First of all, KKN had 9,2M adm. 2nd of all, the extended version was just released yesterday and got almost 140K adm on opening day, more than most Indonesian films this year. With this, the total will likely go beyond 10M, even 11M adm, and beat Endgame as the most attended film of all time. And finally, Indonesia is a frontloaded market with limited screen numbers. It cannot hold screens long enough to reach that number. Unless no new movies are released for another month, which is of course not happening. So I'm thinking 7M adm is the ceiling.
  14. Most people only watch when their national team is playing, so they can choose to see Avatar on other days. Each team only plays like once in 3 days anyway. Also each match only lasts 2 hours max. So the effect is there, but minimum I would say. Indonesia went to the final in the previous AFF. Didn't stop NWH crossing $25M to become the 2nd biggest movie of all time.
  15. That is actually pretty impressive, considering its OW number. WOM seems really good. I don't think the fact that the water clan was inspired by some part of Indonesian culture adds anything. I mean, that is still really cool, but it's not something that is relatable to most of us. And we didn't know that until after the film was released. Also, there will be no public holidays since Xmas and New Year fall on Sunday.
  16. I would say that it's also just okay in Indonesia ($4.2M, 1.3M admits).
  17. Latest weekly box office: Avatar is still strong on its 2nd weekend. One Piece: Red became the biggest anime ever in Indonesia. Miracle in Cell No. 7 went up to no. 5 on the list of Indonesian movies with most admission of all time. 1. KKN di Desa Penari (2022) - 9.223.847 2. Warkop DKI Reborn: Jangkrik Boss! part 1 (2016) - 6.858.616 3. Pengabdi Setan 2: Communion (2022) - 6.390.970 4. Dilan 1990 (2018) - 6.315.664 5. Miracle in Cell No. 7 (2022) - 5.343.568 Three of top 5 are from 2022. At this pace, 2022 will break 2019's record as the biggest year for Indonesian movies.
  18. Weekly (Mon-Sun) top 3 admission last week: 1. Miracle in Cell No. 7 - 1,197,790 (-50%) / 4,741,646 total 2. One Piece Film: Red - 945,000 (new) / 945,000 total 3. Jailangkung: Sandekala - 453,435 (new) / 453,435 total Miracle in Cell No. 7 jumped to no. 6 on the list of the biggest Indonesian movies of all time. Will likely finish at no.5. One Piece: Red is the biggest opening of all time for anime in Indonesia. In fact, it's already the 2nd biggest anime ever just by its opening week number. 1. Stand By Me Doraemon - 1.2M 2. ONE PIECE FILM: RED - 945K 3. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 - ~800K 4. Stand By Me Doraemon 2 - ~570K 5. One Piece: Stampede - 468K 6. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train - 360K Also, I don't have the numbers, but Avatar re-release is doing amazing in its limited release. Especially the 3D version. Very promising for Avatar 2.
  19. Weekly (Mon-Sun) top 3 admission last week: 1. Miracle in Cell No. 7 - 2,393,510 (+108%) - 3,543,856 total 2. Mencuri Raden Saleh - 243,790 (-60%) - 2,248,931 total 3. Sayap-Sayap Patah - 117,801 (-64%) - 2,414,405 Miracle in Cell No. 7 is now locked to reach 5M adm, the 3rd Indonesian film to do so this year. Before 2022, we only had 3, and now we have 6. Also, One Piece: Red was released today (Wednesday), and it was crazy! With 200K+ adm, it broke the all time OD record for an anime, by far. With that OD, it will easily break the total gross record too.
  20. The Indonesian remake of South Korean blockbuster, "Miracle in Cell No. 7" has also become a blockbuster. It reached 2.4M adm in only 8 days. Will finish between 4-5M adm to enter top 10 biggest Indonesian films ever. Could even be top 5. With a heist-themed Indonesian film, "Mencuri Raden Saleh" (translated to "Stealing Raden Saleh") also recently reached 2M+ adm, 2022 has 8 Indonesian films surpassing that benchmark, an all time record (previous record was 6 films). And it's still September. The local film industry has unexpectedly bounced back really fast, and even grown in 2022 after the pandemic.
  21. Updated All-Time Highest Grossing Film in Indonesia (by Estimated Admissions) 1. Avengers: Endgame (2019) - 11,304,326 2. KKN di Desa Penari (2022) - 9,233,847 3. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - 8,806,283 4. Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - 8,121,000 5. Warkop DKI Reborn: Jangkrik Boss! Part 1 (2016) - 6,858,616 6. Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (2022) - 6,488,194 7. Pengabdi Setan 2: Communion (2022) - 6,315,672 8. Dilan 1990 (2018) - 6,315,664 9. Captain Marvel (2019) - 6,298,000 10. The Fate Of Furious (2017) - 5,945,000 Three of the top 10 are from 2022, and four were released within the past year. As Hollywood films lineup being lackluster for most of the 2nd half of 2022 (practically only 3 big blockbusters left: Black Adam, Black Panther 2, Avatar 2), local films are thriving right now, thankfully. With so many potentially big films being released until the end of 2022, this year is expected to be the 3rd biggest year ever for local films, after 2019 and 2018.
  22. He only said that 18-20B was a possibility, with 20B as the highest range. It could get there, but it's not a prediction. Obon holiday is over. And if I'm not mistaken, OP has a tendency to be frontloaded.
