  1. Loving FF7's run so far. It's rare to see a Hollywood action movie having great legs in Japan these days.
  2. This "throw your predictions in for fun, I'll compile them and see who wins" sounds familiar.
  3. Yeah. And it will still be amazing for years . It had its 8th weekend as the biggest one. That's crazy. And it looks like Cindy will get HUGE boost this GW. Kinda makes up for its underwhelming opening.
  4. That's lower than I expected for Cinderella. But DBZ, Conan, and even FF7 are doing better than I thought they would. I think you're right, competition doesn't really matter in Japan, like what happened last weekend, but when it becomes to much, it will matters. Oh well, I hope Cinderella will have great legs.
  5. Well, Japanese yearly ranking starts from Dec, or even late Nov sometimes. I based my "year" on that. But even if we're talking about Jan-Dec, there's Star Wars, which could get close to or more than 10b yen. So if Cinderella is the biggest foreign movie of the year, it will likely be the biggest overall too.
  6. Ah yes, there's The Boy and The Beast. But will it make at least 9b yen? Because if Cinderella is the biggest foreign movie, then it beats BH6, which made more than 9b. Are there any other local movies that could make as big as that?
  7. Cinderella could be the biggest movie of the year, or at least one of the biggest.
  8. No I haven't. I don't watch local channels that much. Maybe 1 or 2 hours in a week lol. Cinta Laura was the interviewer? That's... new. Ah yes, she lives in LA and she does speak perfect English. Maybe that's why. Thanks for the video! Chris Evans looked so amazed . In another video, they couldn't stop laughing because of that lol. At first I was surprised too, but then I remember in Australia, Indonesian language is one of the subjects in some schools.
  9. I knew it! And if I remember correctly, the first Avengers movie opened on Friday, so that 99% increase is even more impressive.
  10. Except for Fast & Furious. It's one of the rare series that actually follows worldwide trend in Japan. But yeah, I feel TA2 is dropping too. I hope it won't drop that big though. I honestly was surprised the first one made as much as it did. Anyway, I can see Conan attracts more female than DBZ, which is more male-centric. And I also think legs will be better for Conan.
  11. According to RTH, the new #1 movie of all time in Indonesia is FF7 with $15.7m. It's very possible that the record will be broken again by AoU. It has no competition for like, a month. The presales here look super strong. I've already got my tickets too for tomorrow. I hope it's gonna be the first movie that crosses $20m. The weak local currency has prevented FF7 to do it. FF7's number would have been $20m with 2013's exchange rates when IM3 was released.
  12. I saw that one too. Hilarious, and sweet at the same time.
  13. Whaaaat? Those numbers seem too good to be true, but it's not impossible. Let's wait for official reports from Japan.
  14. Wow what a weekend! Two 8.5b+ and one 5b+ OWs? Feels like summer, especially from the openers. And I still can't believe that Conan number. It's been consistent every year, but somehow for the last 2 years, it's getting bigger and bigger until it reached a mega blockbuster opening number this year. Just amazing! FF7 is heading to around 2.5b total, but is 3b possible?
  15. OMG FF7 did it! Even with crappy exchange rates. If I'm not mistaken, the previous all time record holder in Indonesia was IM3 with around $15m. Assuming FF7 has made just above it, with the same exchange rates as IM3, it would have been $20m! That's crazy! Now I wonder if AoU can break the record again (which is very likely), or will it fall short. If it does break the all time record, that means it's broken twice in two months this year.
  16. Wow 450m yen on Saturday for DBZ and Conan? That's amazing! It's like they're helping each other instead of killing each other. And that's actually great for FF7. It's gonna be the biggest one in the series in yen, and maybe in USD too. It keeps growing too in Japan, very very rare for a Hollywood series.
  17. Not really. Frozen made it interesting. And then Maleficent. And then BH6. This thread kinda died right after BH6 finished its run. Btw I think that's a solid OD for FF7. I hope with that ending it can have decent legs to cross $20m.
  18. The same here. I think those are the titles for international release, not only in the UK. Just like how Live Free or Die Hard was released as Die Hard 4.0 outside North America. Don't know why they do that, but I won't be surprised if what you said was actually the reason. lol
  19. That's only one theater chain, and it's not even the biggest. There are movies that are not released through that chain, like Insurgent. It should be #1 nationwide instead of Cinderella,
  20. Just found out F7 broke the OD record in Indonesia! Will break the OW record as well with Good Friday holiday. Considering the super weak local currency that's very impressive. Now I'm curious about the numbers.
  21. F7 is really hot right now! Both the soundtrack album and the song "See You Again" are currently sitting at #1 on iTunes.
