  1. I just watched it and it ... was ... amazing! That new song speechless by Naomi Scott is now my new favourite song. Its so powerful and she sings it so well. Naomi is an absolutely awesome Jasmine! This movie will have legs. You all just wait and see. The word of mouth will be amazing for this movie.
  2. Well, what about 50 shades of Grey ? (The whole series?). From what I understand, the guy in that series is supposed to be a 10 (billionaire, handsome, and all). While the girl is more of a 7 because she is certainly not supposed to be some hot bombshell. Her selling point was that she was a submissive... And how about Bella and Edward in the twilight series? I mean, in the books, Bella was supposed to be an average 7. Edward was the hot handsome vampire of rating 10 (according to the fans). And even if Edward wasn't a 10, the hunky werewolf that was also vying for Bella's affections was probably a 10 too.
  3. I just saw a CNBC report saying projections are that Endgame could reach 3 billion worldwide in box office. My mind can't wrap my head around that kind of numbers.... *faints* Last time, even doing 1 billion worldwide was a mark of dsintinction for a movie and those that did that were in an"exalted" tier. 3 billion is 3 times of 1 billion... So, if over 1 billion is "exalted" tier, what does that make 3 billion? "god" tier? lol
  4. wow, so they are predicting 168 million for second weekend ? That number is like bigger than most movies have for their 1st opening weekend. lol In fact, there are only a handful of movies that did over 168 million opening weekend right?
  5. Endgame is like an unstoppable juggernaut right now. Steamrolling over all expectations and records. lol Marvel has used the infinity gauntlet to bend reality. We live in their world now.
  6. Just want to say I am glad I was able to participate in this amazing opening weekend with all of you for Avengers Endgame. Such an amazing box office run right out of the gate. I will say this though. Marvel has earned this. They built this finale up over 21 movies. I mean, a big movie that's 2 to 3 hours with a good story earning big box office? That's typical. But a movie that's the culmination of a world built up over 21 movies? with characters built up in those 21 movies? A finale of a narrative that was 21 movies long? And one that just kept on drawing more and more of the general public in? Avengers Endgame deserves every cent and box office record it gets. Because it is anything but a typical block buster movie.
  7. I think we will have a better idea when we see second weekend numbers. Its still school for most kids right now and work days for adults. So, I got a feeling a lot of return viewers will come in on the weekends.
  8. I am delighted this is taking the weekend record in such a fashion. But lets not forget it took a lot of balls, commitment and money from Marvel and Disney to make all this happen. And also an infinite amount of patience. They were willing to stretch this out into a 20 movie arc over more than ten years before its culmination and finale. I can think of no movie studio that would have had that kind of long term thinking and patience. Just look at how soon DC and warner brothers threw together justice league as a comparison. And there were any number of "sagas', some even based on popular book series that have flamed out (Narnia?), or just never grew from strength to strength like the MCU. Even Harry Potter, which is one of the most popular book series never really grew much from its opening movie except for its finale movie.
  9. Its more than nuts. Its unbelievable. lol 200 million weekend openers are supposed to belong in rarified box office history. They are supposed to come once in a blue moon and make box office history when they happen, never to be repeated for a long time. To have three within 5 months is absolutely ridiculous. lol
  10. They had to. There were struggling financially. Relying just on the comic book business alone was driving them to financial ruin. Let's just be thankful that they have managed to turn things around so brilliantly so that we can now get the MCU as it is.
  11. Just for a mathematical way of doing this. Deathly Hallows Part 2 did around 30% more in box office domestic as well as WW than Deathly Hallows Part 1. If Avengers 4 is truly the culmination of this entire 20 movie arc. well... imagine adding on 30% to the current box office that Infinity war is already doing... lol Its crazy numbers I know. But I am doing this using mathematics.
  12. Really makes me wonder how possible this can be replicated again, even by Marvel. But let's enjoy the infinity war box office now, and let's also look forward to avengers 4. That is going to be truly interesting to track! I mean, look at the kind of numbers infinity war is already doing now. If we map harry potter's finale to avengers 4... I struggle to imagine the kind of epic box office numbers Avengers 4 is going to do.
  13. And yet, X men was probably a lot more famous as a property than the Avengers. And yet look at where we are now. Its the avengers Infinity war which is destroying box office records now.
  14. And while the domestic box office is close, the overseas record is being utterly smashed and demolished. Its not even close. Infinity war is literally obliterating the overseas records.
  15. Tracking Infinity war's dailies is going to be fascinating. Are people gonna be affected by its ending in a good or bad way ? Will we get a good multiplier or a bad multiplier? Without going into spoilers, there can be a case made for saying that it might drop after this weekend and have a bad multiplier. But I do not belong to that group. I think this is starting to take on a life of its own as well. When movies like this blow up to this kind of level, the casual audience gets drawn in despite itself. It doesn't matter whether you were a superhero fan or not. This is something that 18 movies built up to and it is breaking box office records, its topping even TFA! Just that alone is going to stir up the interest. And speaking as someone who is a casual fan (I confess I didn't watch all the marvel movies), I absolutely wouldn't mind watching it again. So, really, I think the Monday and the dailies box office numbers after that are gonna be surprise on the upside!
  16. Honestly, I thought they wouldn't be able to top Avengers 1 too. Because it was the first time the various avengers heroes came together, and it was a great movie, with all the humor and superhero interactions. But Marvel proved me wrong.
  17. ZOMG, its doing it! OW record going down is a lock now. In fact, this may beat TFA's inflation adjusted OW record! lol, to think we were all so pessimistic when Friday numbers first came out. I actually think WOM for this is going to be great. Better than civil war, which felt like our own super heros having a very public and distressing quarrel. This time, everyone's target is clear (Thanos). I can see the GA getting behind that. And this bodes really well for the box office numbers that avengers 4 is going to get next year. All these OW records may only hang around for a year cos Avengers 4 has a good chance of obliterating them when it comes rolling around.
  18. Don't underestimate the casuals showing up for this. This is a must watch and I really believe it won't be front loaded at all. This isn't star wars. How many casuals rush out to watch previews for a superhero movie? But they will nevertheless turn up to watch it this weekend. TFA's records are in serious danger of falling here, I believe.
  19. You know, even with a 39 million preview, if Infinity war plays out like other Marvel superhero movies, we are seriously looking at a potential new opening weekend record. TFA's record is really very much in danger! And we are talking about TFA here! How many people imagined TFA's opening week record might possibly be broken so soon?
  20. Aww, that's so sweet of you guys. Actually though, I am inclined to be optimistic for IW. I really do think opening week records might be in danger. Not a sure thing, but there is a chance. So, having BKB's kind of optimism might not be that bad.
