  7. Dune 2’s international estimates were seemingly way too low: Theatrical Performance Domestic Box Office $265,090,948 Details International Box Office $400,100,000 Details Worldwide Box Office $665,190,948 ~ $5m + I’d like to learn the details about that dom actuals are also a bit higher, even after the adjusted to higher estimates Apr 5, 2024 6 $2,021,894 +87% -44% 2,836 $713 $259,680,481 36 Apr 6, 2024 5 $3,147,781 +56% -33% 2,836 $1,110 $262,828,262 37 Apr 7, 2024 4 $2,262,686 -28% -26% 2,836 $798 $265,090,948 38
  8. I’d love to watch it in an IMAx, but the nearest yo me is in a neighboring country, I think over 100 miles away, and that is not even the big version…
  9. Here in Bavaria (Germany): 6 full weeks paid vacation (can get higher as you get older/work for a longer time) plus 13 non-Sunday paid for public holidays per year Employer will get in trouble if trying to refusing your vacation, they can say eg at that time… only ?x workers can take vacation at the same time, but they have to give the time. In addition they give usually additional days for moving, death in the near family… 6 weeks in one row illness = paid fully, if it takes longer a reduction happens (health insurance takes over, they pay roughly 90% of your normal salary), but only if it is the same illness. In theory you can be ill for 6 weeks for one reason and then be ill for another reason…. And still get fully paid. The 90% detail will get paid for up to 72 weeks within 3 years, afterwards the terms change again, not sure how (never needed it, the longer than 6 weeks only once after a broken bone where the doctor said 3 months, it I started earlier out of boredom) benefits, health insurance,… start after surpassing roughly 10h/week average within a month (per law), full time is usually around 37h +/- per week A new parents gets 65% to 67% paid (calculated out of the 12 months before…) parenting time for 1 year. You can work up to 30h/week an still get that money in full. afterwards you‘ll get a minimum of 250€/month, depending on your income. Can be a lot more too, if a rather low income is earned. health insurance for children and stay at home parent is usually free (included in a parent‘s/partner’s statutory health insurance). Exceptions can happen if eg parents are self employed. School, university… free too beside some books/material (normal prices, not comparable to some insane prices I heard about) Kindergarden/child care/after school starting 3y old is either free or very low cost, or…. depending on income. Eg up to 15.000€ it’s free, kindergarden (here starting 3y up to entering grammar school) is free beside the meals, for after school it depends on income, especially 60.000€/year and 80.000€/year makes it a bit more to pay (but still waaaayy less than what I read about the US) not sure about child care for younger than 3y olds, I think it’s the same siblings are often free or at least reduced even for after school… Work security clothes / shoes has to pay the employer, they can not deduct the cost for those from the salaries of the employees. Same counts for clothes with eg emblems of the company… I feel there is a big gap in work-live balance, health, longevity, access to education, legal system,… between the US and every other industrial nation I know about at least some of the details
  10. Question about this week: do people in the US celebrate Easter? We have here the upcoming Friday and the Monday afterwards public nationwide Holidays, interested in the possible impact in the US if parts or…. also celebrate (forgot way too much details over the last few years)
  11. acc numbers those are the ~ up-to-date countries Australia $17,900,000 China $44,300,000 France $31,800,000 Germany $29,300,000 United Kingdom $38,800,000
  12. 👋 too As mentioned earlier, Dune 2 got me back to a cinema 🤪😉 (first since COVID), will rewatch it around the end of the work-week Happy to see so many familiar names and happy to see you still find the time / energy to provide us with numbers 😍 Still studying?
  13. Dune 2 is the first movie I watched in a cinema since COVID. Tried to get back into the interest to watch another movies since COVID before, but every time it fell through, like the movie was not interesting enough for whatever reason or people around me got ill again Out of those that are already watching movies in a cinema again, most started to visit cinemas again in 2023, a smaller part was not back even yet.
  14. Under the first deal even the then newly at Sony arriving ~ studio boss had no say at all in the MCU movies, under the new deal Marvel pays and gets 25% There is also talks about the possibility of Holland‘s Spidey crossing over to Sony‘s Marvel movies, the wordings make it IMHO very clear that Holland‘s Spider Man belongs to the MCU It‘s a special case, there are always exceptions from rules
  15. Here I disagree to the strongest I was the last time in a cinema in 2019 (me having gotten 3 jabs, still wont go). Most of the people in my circle of friends also still do not go. Brother the same Son & friends went only once during summer since it started Yes, a lot of the GA do go if its possible, but there also a lot who still wont go.
  16. hello too yupp, too much work, also not going to the movies for security reasons, lessened ‚the need‘ to jump into the board, plus other reasons my time/energy… didn‘t allow a relaxed visit.
  17. I had a few for best… lists, but those where done during high pressure times, so it was a combination of a cool down at work (and other places), and the tag 😉
  18. haha, I am older than him (I am in my 6th decade, he is not) Soooo, what‘s up beside it being the Batman opening weekend? Wasn‘t in a cinema in ages (live in one of the worst counties… and so on)
  19. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hercules_(Marvel_Comics) Hercules is since 1965 a Marvel character. He belonged to eg the Avengers at least for some time, had his first own series in 2008. Belonged also to The Defenders, Heroes for Hire,.... There is a comic series were the Pantheon gods fight against the Elders Also a series where ‚someone‘ kills eg all gods present in the Pantheon, eg Hercules is among those who find the dead and dying sister Another series has the Pantheon fighting against the Skrulls (Conan too belongs to the Marvel comic world with him being at a time in modern times too....) There are also gods of the Egyptians, Maya, Hawaiian/Polynesian, Japanese, Mesopotamian, Inca, AUS aboriginal, Hindu, Slavic, Philippine, (fantasy gods) Hyborian, Inuit, Jumala gods (Finnish), Native American, (fictional, Lovecraft) Cthulhu / Old Ones, Roman (see Olympian Gods, overlap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympians_(Marvel_Comics) , Turkic/Mongolian, Aztec, Celtic, Formore (Irish), African, Chinese, Yazatas (proto-Iranian language...), Yondu’s god, (fictional) Shi’ar, Skrull gods (obviously also...), and Old Gods of Zenn-La (Chaos War),.... Solo gods for: Dire Wraith god (see Inhumans, Dire Wraith created by Celestials), Badoon god (for the males), the god of the Symbiots, the god of the Druffs, god of the Carmondian (Captain Marvel), Plasmagenian god (Avengers Celestial Quest), Queega god, = nearly all of those had at least one encounter with either Thor or Hercules or both of them or are in the Thor & Hercules: Encyclopaedia Mythologica There is also a long list of deities.... Gorr the God Butcher kills quite a few of the listed ones
  20. I already answered that To mini-series,.... the influence of a director is usually even less for a series than for an average movie. As much bigger the budget, as much mire a pre-existing franchise, the impact of a director, the possibilities.... decreases more and more. Not in every case, but more often than not. In the sum you seem to judge mostly in black and white, missing the many many shades of grey in between, also way too early on, dismiss / ignore every point for maybe adjusting to a less ‚one person is at fault’ judgement, and use a wording I‘d consider not balanced.
