I like how every year this is the only category we discuss with passion. BOT is increasingly becoming 2 kinds of ppl fr: Disney Renaissance babies and Classic Pixar babies

The exact same film would have made even more money for the reasons you mentioned if WB hadn't announced way beforehand that it was the last installment of a now defunct franchise so I wouldn't call anything they did smart. They lucked out by giving up on the movie and spending very little on marketing but even that shows the fact that they weren't smart enough to trust Momoa's appeal.

Sony giving AtSV the worst release date where OS theatres couldn't keep it around due to an uninterrupted string of new releases is not a victory for Aquaman 2 as much as Sony leaving money on the table. Neither is dropping near 700M from its predecessor. And obvsly AQM2 would be bigger OS than Black Adam. BA didn't get a China release lol. It's not as disastrous as The Marvels I guess.

ATSV will be a worthy winner for the animation and realization of Spider-Punk and Gwen's world alone. TBF Spirited Away was the biggest Japanese film at the time (and for almost 20 years afterwards) which I guess made it impossible to ignore. BatH is not at the same cultural level and Miyazaki has shown interest in making another film which takes away the 'Miyazaki's last film' card.

Apparently he liked Viola Davis's post doing the same. Off-topic but this is such a reductive, ignorant take. Hamas is NOT Palestine and Netanyahu has been committing atrocities even before Oct 7 and in regions like the West Bank where Hamas is not even present. The Palestinian people have to bear the brunt by literally being sandwiched between a warmonger and a terrorist group funded by international forces.

Well, there's definitely much more appeal with the additions of Florence and Anya (not spoiler anymore right, considering she was on the red carpet?), beefed up roles for Zendaya and Rebecca, and internet crushes like Timothee and Butler in leading roles Without context, this cast seems right out of a female-targeted YA dystopia film
