The SWORD storyline is basically a love letter to Monica and I love it. The movies wouldn't have been able to give so much time to her origin and development, and placing her grief and anguish in comparison to Wanda's was an excellent decision. Now she's already a fully realized character going into her first film CM2 Also "They want to see you in the cinema" got me like

When Feige says this, along with the new Spider-Man film and DS2, is a 3-parter story, he means a story in multiple parts like Infinity War/Endgame as opposed to three stories connected to each other, so wouldn't be surprised if the show finale ends with a shocking cliffhanger similar to IW as opposed to wrapping things up perfectly with a bow.

If it hadn't been for BvS, I would have been interested in Superman vs. The Elite where The Elite are kind of the flipped, villainous versions of The Boys and Superman is actually the real deal unlike Homelander. BvS tried to do it, but it could only go to a certain degree without vilifying Batman, who was in the role of Billy Butcher, too much (also, it was more pre-occupied with setting up the Justice League). As things stand now, I think maybe the next outing for Supes would be an alternate universe take on Superman: Red Son. Wasn't a big fan of the original story but last year's animated movie adaptation was really strong, save for the climax (but that can be fixed). As it was an AU story, it was freed up of all the constraints that BvS had when it came to the characterizations of Batman, Superman and co.

Even Captain America is easier to write as he is a reflection of something exterior, like the concept of America and its various systems. It's why subjects like America's role in WW2, government corruption, and the rights of citizens fit him like a glove. Superman is a reflection of something very internal, the potential of humanity to be true and just.* That's harder to pull off without coming across as cheesy. I mean, you can just make a Superman as a laser blasting tank movie too but people will come for you then too. *"the American way" was added later to his slogan by the radio show during the World War 2 era, it's not necessarily one of his core values.

Isn't that the point though? The "compelling" bit may vary as the sitcom formula was to primarily let Olsen, Bettany and co. charm it up but all of it is meant to be incredibly unreal. It's Wanda hamming it up in an uncannily simplistic artificial world to escape the complexities of the real world. A world she may have created herself at that, which explains the shifts between Lynchian to the manic energy of this episode as it reflects her constant struggle to maintain a stable façade. Also, we know a lot more about the dynamics of the MCU than the fictional universes of Twin Peaks and Lost, so those shows could get away with initially setting expectations for a more traditional mystery before slowly and gradually revealing that there are unreasonable, disturbing supernatural forces at play. WandaVision couldn't go that route because we've always known its lead characters are superpowered and its fictional universe is a fantastical one.

Which is why I specifically said I think WandaVision wasn't originally conceived to kick off the multiverse saga. The original rumors floating around claimed that DS2 was about Doctor Strange training Wanda to control her powers, with the involvement of DS characters like Clea instead of Rachel McAdams' character and Mordo expected to have been the main villain. Wanda was apparently always meant to be a part of DS2, irrespective of whether or not WandaVision existed but maybe in a completely different capacity. The "Multiverse of Madness" title was announced more than half a year after Into the Spider-Verse had already come out, and then news of actors from previous franchises appearing in the Far From Home sequel/DS2 came after The Flash news. Charlie was asking what the plan for DS2 would've been if WandaVision or Disney Plus hadn't existed so I replied the original rumors for DS2 had been different. Elizabeth Olsen recently said the script for DS2 is still undergoing changes.
