  1. The different eras and homages to sitcoms of different decades will be fun but I kind of wish they had just stuck to the 50's setting with the Pleasantville meets The Twilight Zone atmosphere until shit hits the fan in the climax.
  2. DS2 was originally going to be a regular sequel with Doctor Strange characters like Mordo and Clea. I don't think WandaVision was originally conceived as kicking off a multiverse saga either. All of this is a result of Into the Spider-Verse's success + WB/DC making their premature announcement of The Flash being a multiverse film.
  3. Yeah, this is what Evans is returning for. Probably RDJ too. It's going to be a quasi-Avengers movie like Civil War, except with alternate universe versions. Interwebz already buzzing about Nazi Cap. Will Feige go there?
  4. Assuming this happens in a hypothetical situation, how will it be jointly controlled by Comcast and AT&T? Any prominent examples of subsidiaries of two different parent companies merging that serve as approximate comparisons?
  5. Warner/Universal (WU? Wuni?) merger incoming? https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/hollywoods-2021-investor-forecast-outlined-in-analyst-report
  6. It's a fine Elseworlds concept, a Wonder Woman who is more Athena/Kali than Aphrodite, the direction Patty chose to go with.
  7. But they keep liking it which is the reason DC has less of an incentive to explore its other characters. Also, Cavill going around claiming he is still Superman as far as he's concerned but also not exactly cooperating with the studio (case in point, the Shazam cameo) doesn't really help for Superman. At least Affleck was clear about his decision to leave, allowing Reeves to recast.
  8. So the entire Frozen trio of the Lopezes and Beck are onboard. Can't wait for the theme songs for each decade from the Anderson/Lopezes.
  9. They were at 73.08M total at the end of Q3. If I'm calculating this graph right: https://www.statista.com/statistics/250937/quarterly-number-of-netflix-streaming-subscribers-in-the-us/ They had added up to 4M in 2020 till their Q3, so assuming Q4 brought in one more million, they are a little over 74M now.
  10. It's a new COVID peak compared to Tenet's time of release (and also, Tenet was not simultaneously available on streaming). I feel like most people who were watching this in theatres watched it on opening weekend. Anyways, theatrical BO is not even the biggest game for AT&T when it comes to WW84. It's those HBO Max subscriber numbers.
  11. Other than the fact that BoP and WW84 were led by Robbie and Gadot who had appeared as Harley and Diana in previous DCEU films, were they really shared universe films at all? At least to any extent where it made a difference? What's the solution? Dump all DCEU actors? That's not going to go down well either.
  12. That logic would have made sense if Aquaman which very much was a DCEU film (at least more so than BoP and WW84) and was the very next film after Justice League hadn't gone on to make 1.1 Billion +
  13. Aquaman and Shazam had more shared universe elements than BoP* and WW84 though, so it's not like the shared universe references are something that definitely drag the quality of the movie down. *I personally enjoyed BoP as much as Shazam but talking about the general RT consensus.
  14. That terribly unnecessary Egypt plot point had Geoff Johns written all over it. This is the last film where he is on the writing team, right?
  15. It's going to be Rumor Central for a long time now so I wouldn't pay heed to casting "reports" from dubious sources until the first official announcements are made. The jock from The Prom would make a pretty good Johnny Storm I think. This time, the character they racebend could be Reed Richards. Saw a fancast of Daveed Diggs as The Thing too which sounds spectacular.
  16. TBF the announcement promo had the subject to change disclaimer displayed pretty prominently so they knew the repercussions of it.
  17. It was apparently only at 8M before the Wonder Woman announcement so they're off to a strong start at the least.
  18. Mendelson just showing off that he knows Superman II wasn't directed by Donner.
  19. The Hunger Games which is the most similar franchise that I can think of (maybe Frozen?) made close to the first Wonder Woman DOM and went on to have a sequel that increased on its DOM total. Captain Marvel numbers were probably in the mix for DOM or even 500M. We'll never know for sure.
  20. Kirsten Dunst just 3 years back saying the new franchises are money making schemes and her movies were the best and now set to appear in the new franchise to collect some of dat money... I love that for her.
  21. When she breaks off the steering wheel but tells the driver that his brakes still work. That's so amazingly Wonder Woman and reminds me of this.
  22. Hindsight is... 20/20 *Okay in all seriousness though, how were they to predict this first of a kind incident since the dawn of movie theatres? The way they saw it, WW84's legs would be cut by Frozen 2 and SW9 and more importantly, it was too close to Joker. June 2020 seemed like the perfect summer date, taking the same spot as the previous film. In some ways, Joker's win turned out to be WW84's loss.
