Teen Titans haven't gotten their live action big screen adventure too. All the Bat spin-off characters like Batgirl, Nightwing/Robin, Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Joker etc. could be varying degrees of big to huge. And then all brought together with Batman could be massive. On the Marvel side, still think Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan is the next big cultural phenomenon the size of Black Panther/Wonder Woman.

Sing was much more direct competition for Moana than Greatest Showman and Jumanji were for Coco. As for Ralph 2's underperformance, I kind of agree that it was too heavy-handed and didn't feel as imaginative as the first one. Third act was really weak.

DOM is too early to call. This is the first time that a CBM has opened over X-Mas time. And it seems to be a crowdpleaser. The competition is weak too. The next 3-4 weeks have potential to be exciting. -

TBF I think that was a shortcoming of the limitations of tech at the time + it was Hulk, not the concept itself. At this point everyone has disembarked the Whedon train as they should. but he was right in that Hulk is less a superhero story than a horror/werewolf tale. I have to wonder how it would work for a more traditional superhero (so Scott Pilgrim doesn't count either).

LMAO so post-JL and until just before a couple of weeks back, the narrative was "DCEU is doomed, Aquaman will get destroyed by Poppins, good luck to DC films now making 700-800M WW, 45M long range predicts are right on the money, even Shazam would outperform Aquaman". Now it's "Boring numbers, not tracking that well for a DC film, it's not making the monster numbers it's making in China, it's no Star Wars"

Atlanna and her sons are not Atlan's direct descendants though. The comics had Atlanna's ancestor (Atlan's brother Orin) kill him and his family to seize the throne. The movie gives off the impression that Atlan abdicated the throne (without an heir?). The royals from the other kingdoms like Mera aren't supposed to be related to Atlan at all.

X-Men is still a strong brand in China and others parts of Asia and Latin America.

If the crowded late May market hurts movies, then it will hurt Aladdin and Godzilla equally. Aladdin is quite the formidable brand, especially OS.

That makes Shazam the Hancock of April 2019 Srsly tho, the reason there is a near 11 year gap between films in this franchise is because the last one was sandwiched between two bigger superhero films. Why repeat the SAME mistake? Maybe Hellboy 2030 with Will Poulter will have an actual chance.
