Shazam, Joker and Birds of Prey are releasing within 10 months of each other. Shazam is just 4 months after Aquaman, Wonder Woman 1984 is just 4 months after BoP. Chill. This seems more like an Aquaman October to December move to make use of a more lucrative frame. Especially with GotG3 being delayed, Summer 2020 looks kind of lean.

Your Name's plot resolution (especially with everything regarding the shrine in the woods) is pretty steeped in cultural influences though so I guess that's just subjective depending on how it personally resonates with each person. Though you have underlined one of the bigger reasons why a "Hollywoodized" remake would be even more pointless unless they keep the Japanese settings, people and cultural aspects. Your Name though has shown that Shinkai is capable of growing as a storyteller, even if some of his peers are more effective than him (I haven't seen Yonebayashi's works yet, but Hosoda has a better handle on human emotionality and character development than Shinkai for sure).

People aren't "forgetting". I think I've already discussed before how the announcement of CM just seemed to be a reaction to the announcement of WW as there was nothing really decided about the CM film in October 2014 other than... it existed? And then it ended up being pushed back a couple of times, which is the reason it has still not released while WW2 is already filming and BoP will begin filming too. And the rights issue doesn't apply to Carol Danvers. Feige himself has stated multiple times how beneficial WW breaking out has become when it comes to convincing people (old white male execs) that female superhero films aren't a risky venture any more. BW though would've still taken a lot more time (if it had been greenlit at all) if WW didn't happen when it did. And WB/DC announcing multiple female superhero movies and getting at least two big hits in films with breakout female characters (WW and Harley Quinn) has definitely spurred Marvel to be much more proactive when it comes to greater female inclusion. This is just the way the business works. Marvel and DC have for decades influenced each other when it comes to stories and characters in comics. The same thing is being reflected in the film divisions too. It's not THAT complicated lol -

Captain Marvel maybe because Marvel made a concentrated push to make her "their Wonder Woman" (which funnily comes back to Wonder Woman again). But these other projects like Black Widow and The Eternals do seem like direct responses to DC projects like WW, Birds of Prey and New Gods. At least I don't see Marvel agreeing to a 15M pay day for SJ if WW hadn't overperformed the way it did and DC wasn't considering half a dozen Margot Robbie Harley Quinn projects. So Napolean is not that far off. The Marvel fanbase has a habit of downplaying the company's shortcomings since even when Perlmutter was in charge. I remember some people who are ready to throw Perlmutter under the bus NOW whining about how "whatever Marvel did would never be enough for SJWs" circa 2013-15. Once Wonder Woman came along and proved that those demanding, ever unsatisfied SJW's were pretty easy to please, the narrative quickly changed to "Oh, it was just Perlmutter all along and Marvel is great now". Which as a statement is not all that inaccurate but the same people were defending Perlmutter's regime just a few years back so So yes, Wonder Woman and to be fair WB/DC do deserve all the praise they get in this particular context. -
Says who? Pretty sure 'A Whole New World' was the most performed Disney song on American Idol. And Disney kind of made a deliberate decision to push BatB over Aladdin when it came to 3D re-release, earlier Platinum and Diamond editions etc. I guess BatB may be more popular than Aladdin among some young women because Belle was the titular lead while Jasmine was a love interest, but Jasmine is a pretty popular Disney Princess too.* *Though it never occurred to me until it was pointed out that she is the ONLY female character in the movie with more than a single speaking line.
