  1. And yet, Aladdin was the one to get (a pretty good) animated series, half a dozen games in the 90's, and a number of DTV sequels much before BatB. It was only after the Disney Princess franchise became a thing in the early 00's that Belle and BatB started receiving more focus than Aladdin. Though I think 9/11 and subsequent events also contributed to Disney not pushing Aladdin in the 00's as much as they did in the 90's. Emma Watson as Belle was a casting coup for the live action BatB remake though, moreso than Big Will as Genie. And like Wonder Woman, things aligned for it in a post-Trump atmosphere. But Aladdin will still be the biggest scale on which Hollywood offers (mostly) non-whitewashed representation to Muslims and Arabs yet, so that should be exciting.
  2. Kiki >>>>>>>>>>> the rest Though I'm surprised at the amount of Nausicaa fans here. It kind of comes across as the beta version of Mononoke. Which still makes it a good movie, but it is underwhelming if you have watched PM first. Also, did I miss Only Yesterday's entry? Or has it dropped out of the Top 100? () Don't think it would place higher than the current point in the list.
  3. 90's kids didn't spend hours cracking the side scroll game's notoriously hard Cave of Wonders level and relating to Al just to hear this blaspheme.
  4. These 7 have already been announced as 'in development'. The list is: Morbius (Jared Leto cast in lead role) Nightwatch (rumored to be courting Spike Lee) Silk (said to be a priority) Black Cat (now her own solo movie instead of Silver and Black) Silver Sable (same as above) Jackpot (about a superheroine in her 40's) Kraven In addition, it remains to be seen if December's Spider-Verse can launch its own cinematic animated franchise. And of course, there are the main Tom Holland Spider-Films. In the general superhero business, Sony also has rights to Valiant Comics characters, out of which Faith has been announced. Am I missing anything else?
  5. I mean, Hardy has actual charm so he can have effortless fun with a role like Brock/Venom. Then there are the charmless beings like Leto who overcompensate by trying too hard. Leto and Sony will learn only the wrong things from Venom's success, so Morbius could be an unparalleled experience of pain and awkwardness. Cannot wait tbh
  6. I can see the animation style not being everyone's cup of tea. Which would suck if that is the primary reason this movie underperforms. The Princess and the Frog/2D all over again.
  7. The fact that he doesn't seem to recognize her at first glance hints she may not have been such a big deal in THIS Peter Parker's AU. Peter here seems to be based on the Raimiverse, especially with the 'everything revolving around Mary Jane' aspect. Speaking of MJ, in Spider-Gwen's AU, she's the lead singer of Gwen's band and the band itself is named 'The Mary Janes'.
  8. Shirley Walker is a goddess we lost too soon. The animation is great but that score MAKES the scene where Alfred sees Bruce batted up for the first time. How do you make the Elfman theme more epic? Walker did it with ease.
  9. Can't wait for the Hellboy doing Kiki Challenge motion poster.
  10. Lol that's actually kinda similar to my experience with Secret of Kells. Was in my friend's house in 2010 and he started playing it. Unfortunately, I had to leave almost immediately. Finally got around to watching it early last year, nearly 7 years after I almost got to watch it. [/cool story bro]
  11. The Secret of Kells is narrated like a fable so in that context, the structure felt complete to me. The Breadwinner shows a woman being mercilessly beaten by the Taliban in front of her young daughter, and a teen militant trying to shoot down two little girls... so um, "watered-down" is not the word I would use for the film. Haven't seen Song of the Sea so can't comment, but I guess this means this it's the only Cartoon Saloon film in the Top 100? Which is sad.
  12. Wasn't a fan of this run but the art and character redesigns were spectacular. Hades tho seems a logical choice considering a resurrection is involved and also, he is most likely to have sat out the war between Ares and the rest of the Greek pantheon, allowing him to survive.
