  1. Wasn't just Ant-Man 3. There had already been widespread fallout from the DCEU where the majority of their films have earned bad reputations. And with Marvel, since 2022 they have been on a downward spiral in audience and critical reception and then having massive bombs in 2023. Add to the fact the overwhelming over-saturation of Marvel TV shows, and it was inevitable that the genre would collapse since it was already so reliant on MCU.
  2. Amazing hold for The Hunger Games. It's a strong movie and audiences are clearly enjoying it. Also, the fact that after 60+ new reviews, it has managed to move from 60% to 65% is impressive.
  3. I still don't see this finishing below $100m. With Christmas and holidays, that would require a performance worse than The Marvels and even I can't see that happening. Would be very fitting to see this hit less than FB3's $410m WW take. Side note: why WB never released any of the Potters during December is beyond me.
  4. Aquaman being part of the DCEU has a hugely negative cloud hanging over the film. It's inevitable and most people are aware of its implosion.
  5. $100m was always a lock. There was no way it was going to miss $100m with a holiday release and a $44.6m OW.
  6. Disgusting. The lobbying for Israel is nauseating. I hope she sues the fuck out of them.
  7. If THG gets FB1's legs (3.16x) it hits $141m. FB2's legs (2.56x) gets it to $114m. It should do better than FB2, but the movie business climate is very different from 5 years ago. People are more picky now.
  8. I thought Aquaman was bloated and overrated. Decent, but nothing great at all. However, most people definitely enjoyed it.
  9. Not a single shot of Amber in the new trailer. The love between Aquaman and Mera was a big selling point and one of the more positive aspects of the film...the fact that there is no new love interest will be an issue. But damn not one shot of Heard. I wonder if she is even invited to the movie premiere.
  10. $33.7m so far for THG. It'll maybe do a million more than Fantastic Beasts 3 since it held slightly better than it on Saturday. $43m-$44m IMO. Average, but in the end, the film will be profitable.
  11. I'm almost impressed at the catastrophic drop from Marvels. Holy shit, falling close to 80% is insanity. That is flat out rejection on a scale I have rarely seen in box office.
  12. If Mockingjay had been a single film, not only would it have been the highest grossing film of the year, but it would have outgrossed CF.
  13. One of my best predictions was predicting Catching Fire to outgross The Hunger Games (the first ever $400m+ sequel grosser) with $420m. Catching Fire is such a fucking great film.
  14. We were two guys and three girls...all the girls loved it and two of them are ones who can nap in movies but they were really engaged.
  15. Saw The Hunger Games and it was really good. A bit long, but when it hits, it hits. We were two guys and three girls and they all loved it. I think WoM is going to be quite positive.
  16. Strong movie. Exceptional performances especially from Rachel. I think the movie was a bit too long, but overall the story lands very well. Better than MJ1 and THG. I'd rank it similar to MJ2. Catching Fire is peak. I have no idea how the ending is called frustrating or abrupt...
  17. I had no idea the film released today! It was derivative and wasted a strong cast.
