  3. As we all know now.....Disney has an interesting thing when it comes to their live action remakes of their animated films. The first one that they ever made, was 1996's "101 Dalmatians" with Glenn Close as Cruella De Vil. At the time...that film became one of the highest grossing films of that year with $320M WW and spawned a sequel that came out 4 years later. Then 14 years later....the next film that they made: 2010's Alice in Wonderland...which was a large box office hit, earning over $1.025B WW. Then they did it again with films like Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book and most recently....Beauty and the Beast. They all were box office successes, biggest one being "Beauty and the Beast" with $1.263B WW. And now with films like Dumbo, Mulan, Aladdin & The Lion King being scheduled for release slots.....i was thinking to myself: What more live action reimaginings of animated films would we want/dream to see being made? Also....they don't necessarily have to be....just from Disney. They could also be American Non-Disney animated ones from other studios. Let's see which live action remakes of animated films....we want to see being made. They can also be great movies if they stay faithful and give respect to their animated counterparts, while doing things different and offering some new stuff. Here is my list: Disney: The Black Cauldron The Hunchback of Notre Dame Hercules Non-Disney (I would love seeing other studios do their takes of the animated films they've distributed) The Swan Princess (Sony) Anastasia (Fox) Quest for Camelot (Warner Bros) The Road to El Dorado (Dreamworks) These are my own choices. Comment below which live action remake of an animated films, you wish to see.
  4. I thought about waiting for Monday's numbers before starting this club, but I feel confident enough to do it so here it goes. I firmly believe that people here on the boards are understimating Spider-Man: Homecoming's potential. July is a different beast when it comes to box office and I think it's possible for this film to have a very similar run to other film from the same genre that was just released, but having three assets that film didn't have: while Spider-Man: Homecoming is the sixth Spider-Man film in less than 20 years and after three very poorly received films, it's also a film that has enjoyed some very strong critical and public reception, what leads me to think that SMH will hold better than people are expecting next to Apes and the upcoming films. The theory is that since it's Summer in the US, we will see this film getting strong weekdays and soft drops in the weekend. To enjoy a healthy multiplier, Spider-Man: Homecoming counts with the popularity of the characters, Marvel Studios brand and the very nature of July releases. So who's with me believing that this film will gross over 60m on its second weekend? 5. So this one. It's from the creators of The Lego Movie (which made only $211 million international). The premise looks interesting and the animation is definitely appealing (those babies are pretty cute). I'd say $100-150 million for now, but it could approach $200 million if advertised effectively and is actually good.
  6. Assuming their latest Spidey spin-off movie "Sinister Six" in 2016 completely underwhelms like the TASM franchise... http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/10/07/spider-man-marvel-sony/?hootPostID=7c1b038a8036f7014d52339388e16826
