My first club. X-Men: Apocalypse made 155m DOM. Here's why I think Pirates 5 will make less 1) Pirates 4 made 241m. X-Men: Days of Future Past made 233m. Same ballpark, so their sequels are somewhat comparable. 2) Pirates 4 wasn't well received and itself suffered a huge drop from 3 in the first place. Days of Future Past increased from the previous X-men and had good reception. So, before the release, it would seem that Apocalypse got a much brighter future than Pirates 5. Of cause now we know neither of both franchise had a bright future. It's quite obvious that the general audience are getting tired of both. It's just that the falling trend of this Pirates franchise is definitely more glaring. 3) Depp not longer a big draw. Well, I guess whether he WAS that big of a draw like some claimed he was in the first place (back in those Pirates days) is debatable, but I dont think it's now still a question after so many his flops during recent years. He's not a big draw now (and people no longer really interested in Captain Sparrow because of reason No.2). The main cast of X-Men are in an obviously much better position in this industry than Depp. Also note that although Jackman has been the leading role in most X-men films, the franchise has always been known for its various characters and their contribution. In other words, X-Men doesn't reply so much on one key role like Pirates does on Depp. This just makes Depp's fading a really concerning factor for Pirates 5. 4) I dont think Depp's wife-abusing rumor (or a case?) is going to really hurt the film, but it's certainly a negative factor. First, I would like to thank the users who voted this time around. A bit of an increase from last year. There were some changes this year to the top 10. I'am not able to do a presentation since I have had a really busy schedule these days.
