Ezen Baklattan
October 6-8: 'Heavy' Makes It Rain With excellent reviews and an effective cast, Heavy Rain broke out at the box office, with signs looking good right off the bat with a $13.4m Friday and a B+ CinemaScore. With even more Oscar buss, things are in good store for this video game adaption. The 13th Night, a reboot of a tired horror franchise, failed to gain that much momentum at the box office, and it pretty much performed as people thought that it would. The Rich & Famous continues to hold on as the two documentaries finally reach a wide release. 1. Heavy Rain - $37,819,580 (NEW) 2. Adventure Time: The Battle For Ooo - $14,105,267 (2nd week) (-43%) 3. The 13th Night - $13,829,309 (NEW) 4. The Rich & Famous - $7,958,210 (4th week) 5. The Fall Of Boss Tweed - $6,471,927 (3rd week) 6. Epic Battlers - $2,571,152 (4th week) 7. Redeeming Love - $2,210,436 (6th week) 8. God Is Dead - $1,789,876 (5th week - wide) 9. Jazz: The Movie - $1,510,047 (7th week - finally wide) 10. The 120 Days Of Sodom - $1,412,618 (2nd week) (-62%) October 13-15: 'Rain' Repeats, But 'Paper Towns' Not Abandoned Heavy Rain was able to easily repeat at the box office this weekend with a decent 43% drop, but Paper Towns still made a decent bit of money, attracting more than just fans of the novel. Also, who asked for a sequel to Jekyll Jr? Not very many people, apparently. Adventure Time and Halloweentown next weekend will keep families content. Not the most eventful weekend, but things will get interesting soon. 1. Heavy Rain - $21,689,465 (2nd week) (-43%) 2. Paper Towns - $16,629,359 (NEW) 3. Adventure Time: The Battle For Ooo - $9,001,272 (3rd week) 4. The Rich & Famous - $5,804,948 (5th week) 5. The 13th Night - $5,380,116 (2nd week) (-61%) 6. Jekyll Jr. 2 - $4,519,231 (NEW) 7. The Fall Of Boss Tweed - $3,810,013 (4th week) 8. God Is Dead - $2,103,761 (6th week) 9. Jazz: The Movie - $1,910,328 (8th week) 10. Epic Battlers - $1,629,952 (5th week) October 20-22: 'Halloweentown' Scares Up Financial Success Though not quite as strong as its recent predecesors (and by a small amount), audiences still came to Halloweentown for the year, so the franchise isn't quite dead yet. Brother & Sister, a South Korean psychological horror/thriller, didn't attract much buzz, but the fans of Park Chan Wook's style came to see it, and it did better than Stoker on Friday alone. Also, Risk Management, the final chapter of the Coen Bros's Corruption Trilogy, rocked the limited release with a PTA over $160k. 1. Halloweentown IV - $23,319,265 (NEW) 2. Heavy Rain - $13,729,448 (3rd week) 3. Paper Towns - $9,233,707 (2nd week) (-44%) 4. Adventure Time: The Battle For Ooo - $5,572,050 (4th week) 5. Brother & Sister - $5,281,297 (NEW) 6. The Rich & Famous - $4,051,609 (6th week) 7. The 13th Night - $2,851,290 (3rd week) 8. God Is Dead - $2,533,189 (7th week) 9. The Fall Of Boss Tweed - $2,279,800 (5th week) 10. Jekyll Jr. 2 - $2,188,046 (2nd week) (-52%) -Risk Management - $327,529 (NEW - limited) October 27-29: Kendrick Brings In The 'Crowds' We have a breakout this weekend that stuck out from the crowd. Anna Kendrick carried the film to success, and the A- CinemaScore also bodes very well for the film. The Vast Dark didn't perform quite as strongly as other films in the franchise, possibly due to fatigue, but it managed to prevent Amnesia from breaking out. Speaking of which, Risk Management managed to break into the top 10 this weekend despite a release on only 58 theaters. 1. A Woman In The Crowd - $30,163,892 (NEW) 2. The Vast Dark: Shadows Of The Past - $26,829,431 (NEW) 3. Halloweentown IV - $14,098,395 (2nd week) (-39%) 4. Amnesia: The Dark Descent - $10,043,682 (NEW) 5. Heavy Rain - $8,429,158 (4th week) 6. Paper Towns - $5,319,246 (3rd week) 7. Adventure Time: The Battle For Ooo - $3,562,198 (5th week) 8. The Rich & Famous - $2,519,671 (7th week) 9. Brother & Sister - $2,402,442 (2nd week) (-55%) 10. Risk Management - $2,078,956 (2nd week - still limited)

riczhang
Very, Very, Very good for Narnia. It's my first 100M+ OW And it'll clear 300M with ease. It's on 212 on weekends alone. Kinda disappointing for Risk Management. I'm not quite sure where it'll end up but probably less than 100M.
4815162342
Celluloid Heroes should end up anywhere between 80-90 million depending on how generous Spaghetti is with weekdays. Too uncertain about Julius Caesar but 300m looks likely.

Alpha
I don't know why but that Chuck Norris opening scares me... first time the series has dropped in OW.Probably muted grosses due to holidays. Plus, Santa Claus: Ultimate Badass isn't as popular as Giant Spiders is.
Blankments
I'm guessing more that the opening on Wednesday diluted the three-day opening, since Spaghetti didn't list the 5-Day. Regardless, great job with these actuals, Spaghetti!

Blankments
The 5-day was about $80 million. Much better. On a different note, Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs. the Underworld should break $100M on OW; it's just one film compared to the last two triple features and the only reason I'm going back to that format is for the attempt to reach that milestone before The Year of Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson.
