CAYOM: Crowd Report Thread

Recommended Posts

The Time Before That

December 25, 5:30 PM, 80% full (Mostly families with younger kids)

Trailers

Bone: Vernal Equinox - Kids were laughing at the few jokes; looking forward to this.

Pokemon: Rise of the Rockets - Looks good, the kids were chattering through it in excitement.

The Conondrum - Some talking, but most people just seemed uninterested.

Sylvarius - Looks really good, everyone was enraptured.

The Flash - First teaser; the costume looks great and it got a lot of people talking.

The movie was cute and funny. The audience was laughing quite a bit, and overall, it was just a fun time. Definitely worth seeing.

The Homestarmy Invades

January 10, 12:01 AM, 55% full (Crowd was mostly college and high school students; y'know, Homestar Runner fans)

Trailers

A Stark Night - This being a geeky crowd, huge positive response

Bone: Vernal Equinox - No one was paying attention until Tartakovsky's name came up. Must be a trailer tailored specifically to older crowds, but it got murmurs of approval afterwards.

39 Steps - Laughter. Some guy shouted out, "Simon Pegg is the man!" :P

Weird Al Yankovic: Insert Title Here in 2-D - No response. If this crowd doesn't like it, then the film must be doomed.

Death of a Strawberry - Negative response, and people booed the title.

Sylvarius - Looks interesting to me, but it didn't really grab the older crowd's attention.

Fun time, and it was great seeing the Homestar Runner gang again. The audience loved it, and there was a round of applause at the end, along with lots of cheering and laughter throughout the story. Great time.

--------------------------------------------------

The Immune

January 17, 7:05 PM, 95% full

Trailers

Army of Two - Looks good, and the audience seemed interested. The girls in the crowd just liked Hemsworth and Tatum, and whistled at them.

39 Steps - Not as a good a response than the last time I saw this trailer. Might not be mainstream enough.

Illusiono 2 - Murmurs of approval after the trailer.

The Flash - Still the teaser, and it got the usual response. Looking forward to the full trailer being released with Stark Night!

Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs. the Abominable Snowman - Premiere teaser; some people booed, but a majority of the people laughed, and seemed welcome of the quick sequel.

It was pretty good, if a bit generic. Ryan Gosling was great, and the audience loved him. The ladies loved that shirtless scene with him, and the guys enjoyed the action. Looks like a true crowd-pleaser.

Dang-I asked so many times but people would not do them. Kind of makes me sad since I spent so much on year 3.

If you suggest some specific films, I'll try to do those. I'd just prefer not to do any quiet crowds, since those are boring to write. :P Also, a random side note: for most of the family films, the only action movies I'm really showing trailers for are my own, since the other big ones (Call of Duty, Divisions, Nirvana) don't really seem like they're trying to appeal to children at all.

Bone - Vernal Equinox

February 7, 5:25 PM, 65% full

Trailers

Sylvarius - The kids shut up quickly after this one started. This is going to be a huge hit; every time I see the trailer, it looks better.

Decker - Some pity laughter. I don't know about this one.

The Flash - Full trailer, got a huge response. I think superhero movies might make a comeback!

Spark - Huge response, lots of laughs and a few "I wanna see that!" after it.

Our City - Looks intriguing, some murmurs.

The Last Six - It's the teaser that was released with SpellForce. Audience murmured in approval anyway.

Great movie, everyone loved it, from the crying baby, from that deaf granny in the back. :P Tartakovsky made a great world, and it's going to be interesting to see where he goes from here, finally having a big mainsteam hit.

--------------------------------------------------

Pokemon: Rise of the Rockets

February 16, 11:15 AM, 75% full

Trailers

Sylvarius - The younger crowd loved it, and I did too.

Dawn of Souls II - The older people in the audience seemed hyped. The kids; not so much.

The Flash - Looks like a fun time, but it's the trailer that was at my Bone showing last week. Audience loved it.

Booster Gold - First trailer/teaser; looks good to me, but the audience didn't seem to really get it.

The Last Six - HOLY CRAP THIS LOOKS GOOD. The audience seemed in on it too, thanks to the great cast and the stunning effects this trailer showed.

While not as good as the original, this was still pretty good, and a definite crowd-pleaser. Some kids were crying at points though, so I fear this might not have the all ages appeal of the original.

Uhhh... I'm not doing all of the films. :P I'll do my top film of each month in Year 3. :P I've already done January, so here's February.

Barefoot on Everest

February 8, 8:20 PM, 65% full

Trailers

Wolves of the Deep - Looks good, audience was murmuring.

Prodigy - Lots of talking afterwards, felt some excitement.

The Man and His Hat - Some groans but some excitement. Typical Tim Burton.

Vault Break - Looks pretty fun, honestly. Crowd wasn't really into it though.

Genesis - Everyone wanted to see this; it's gonna do great.

Movie was decent, I liked the cinematography. No noticable reactions though.

And now, to take Spaghetti's idea:

The Glass Castle

Saturday, August 9th

3:05pm

90% full (300 Seater)

The Crowd: Unsurprisingly, the make-up was mostly women and/or people over 45. However, there were a few younger people there. (college age, basically.)

The Trailers

-Student Film - Some laughter, but not much else.

-The Road Home - There were a few murmurs.

-LoveBytes - There was generally little reaction.

-The Good Die Young - There was a lot of talking.

-The Simulation - Some chatter after the trailer

The Movie - It's not necessarily a feel-good film, but the audience really liked it. I heard nothing but positive talk on the way out. WOM is going to be fantastic.
