CAYOM: Crowd Report Thread

Divisions in IMAX 3D

May 2, 9:15 PM, 90% full

Trailers

Booster Gold - Not many people were paying attention. Looks decent at best.

Spark - Looks fantastic; alas the audience wasn't much into it, since it's an older crowd.

Nirvana - Got everyone talking; this is going to be a big hit.

The Last Six - Great visuals; a bit of talking afterwards.

Tomb Raider - Debut trailer; decent reaction. One person yelled out that if there's no Angelina Jolie, he wasn't going.

Liked the movie; it had a great plot while the kid's acting was the best part. Audience seemed to like it, and my friends I was with said they were going to suggest it to all of their friends.

First time doing crowd reports :P

Vast Dark Part III: The Execution

October 31, 12:00 AM (Midnight Showing), 95% full

Trailers:

Beast - looks cheap, some talking

Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs. Bigfoot - nice teaser, good reaction; should see the one coming out next week before this

Escalator - somewhat tounge-in-cheek trailer, nice reaction

Shocker - Meh, looks okay; silence from audience

Film:

Vast Dark III was okay; not as good as the first two, but okay. When I was leaving, there was some negative talking about the film, so I'm curious of it's box office prospects.

LOL, at Bigfoot having a teaser before Abominable Snowman came out. I can understand why you'd like to use it, but teaser probably wouldn't be released until Alesia at the earliest. Nice crowd report though. :)

Should I change that?

Lord Madship in IMAX

25 Decemember, 9:00 PM, Sold Out (450 Seater)

Trailers

3:37 AM - People where mostly talking amongst themselves, no one was really paying attention. I might check this out.

The Guardian - Audience had a mixed reaction, the women seemed to like it, and the men just groaned.

Paradise Lost - Some Talking, visuals looks good, story a bit preachy.

Psychonauts - Looks fun, and the crowd ate it up

Oro - Crowd loved it, visually impressive, and looks good, made a big deal of stressing that it was shot in native IMAX 3D

Movie

Loved the movie, it was fun, and action packed. Plus, Fassy is a perfect Bond, and Tennant was pretty awesome as well. Only thing I didn't like was Emma Thompson as M, she didn't fill the giant shoes that Judi Dench left behind. Crowd loved it as well, there was clapping at the end, and lots of positive afterwards.

Once Actuals come in, actually. However, it's okay to do late Y4 films and have trailers for Y5 films. For example:

Ready Player One

December 12th, Y4

7:45pm

85% full (350 seater)

The Crowd: The crowd was made mostly of younger adults and teens/college age students. However, there were even a few families there.

Trailers:

-Game Hunt - Plenty of laughter throughout.

-Nonexistence - Silence, but there seemed to be a good deal of interest.

-Summer Wars - There was some chatter.

-The Next Dimension - A lot of chatter. People looked clearly excited about this.

-Psychonauts - This trailer, an extended one, actually got lots of chatter and laughing.

The crowd seemed to really like it, laughing at the right parts and some clapping at the end.

Oh, yeah. I thought Impact said not to ADVERTISE Year 5 films. All right then.

Also, the Psychonauts reaction was totally biased on your part. :P

Allright, I'm doing another:

Alesia

December 21, 7:40PM, 65% Full

Trailers:

Escalator: Same trailer as Vast Dark, looks okay. Pretty good reaction.

Tyrant: I have to say, the film looks awesome. Some claps at David Cronenberg's name, great reaction.

Where?: Looks entertaining, great premise. Good reaction.

Summer Wars: Seems worthwhile, silence.

Psychonauts: Despite the fact that it looks funny, there was little to no reaction.

The Red Pyramid: Great teaser, good reaction from crowd :P

Spellforce: Shadow of the Phoenix: Claps at the trailer, great reaction. The teaser looks amazing!

The Film:

Amazing film, considering I hadn't heard about it until one of my friends had seen it at an advance screening. I think it should win Best Picture :D
