Boxoffice.com's Top 100 Films of All Time 2013 -- RESULTS PRESENTATION 4 PM PST/7 PM EST

Boxoffice.com's Top 100 Films of All Time 2013!

It's time for BOF's 2nd annual Top 100! Last year's list produced a hilarious mix of jubilation and horror, and it's time once again to gauge the forum's film preferences. I got great participation last year (34 lists submitted), and I hope the contest gets even bigger this time around.

The rules are below. The first few, excepting some slight changes in wording, are basically copied and pasted from last year's thread. The rules that are in bold are specific to this year's competition.

Rules (please read!):
-You are to submit a list that will go toward determining the forums' all time 100 favorite films. (I should specify that as you are compiling your list, you can define "favorite" however you wish to. For some posters, "favorite" films may be the same as what they deem to be the "best" films. For others, "favorite" films are simply those that provide the most entertainment value.)

-You must submit a minimum of 20 films, and are encouraged to list up to 100. The more films on your list, the better, but I understand many people will not have the time or experience to arrange a full Top 100.

-Miniseries and TV films are not allowed. Films that have not yet been released are obviously not allowed (believe it or not, this came up a couple times last year). The film does not need to have had a US theatrical release to be eligible.

-Lists are only valid if they sent via PM. You are welcome to submit your lists in this thread, but they will only count toward the final list if you send them by PM as well.

-Films in a series must be listed separately. No votes for just the "Lord of the Rings trilogy" or "Kill Bill," etc. If you can't come up with separate rankings, choose just one film to represent the series (e.g. Fellowship for LOTR). If you disregard this, I will allocate the points to the film in the series that has received the most points from other members.

-It's in your best interest to submit films by their full titles, but I will accept shortened versions IF it is clear to me which film is intended. Foreign titles can either be listed in English or their native language. For remakes or other titles that can reference multiple films, you should list the director and/or year--otherwise, I'll just guess which one you mean.

-In the event of a tie between multiple films, the film that receives more #1 votes will be ranked higher.

SCORING:

Scoring will be significantly different for this year's list. Some members commented that last year's system (100 points to #1, 99 points to #2, etc.) did not provide a significant enough advantage to films at the top of members' lists. This year, I'll be using a more scaled system. Points will be allocated to the films on each list as follows:

#1 - 10 points

#2-3 9 points

#4-7 8 points

#8-12 7 points

#13-18 6 points

#19-25 5 points

#26-40 4 points

#41-60 3 points

#61-80 2 points

#81-100 1 point

-UNRANKED LISTS ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED. Scoring unranked lists got a little muddled last year, and I don't really see a way to score them fairly. However, because of the new scoring criteria, you may submit ranked "groupings" of films rather than a fully ranked top 100. So if, for example, you have 20 films that you know you want to be at the bottom of a top 100, you may submit them as an unranked group, since the films at ranks 81-100 will all be receiving one point anyway.

Voting is now open! The deadline is 11:59 PM on July 31, 2013, forum time. If you guys end up needing more time, I could postpone it to the 31st. Use this thread for questions, FYCs, and maybe predictions about what you expect to end up on the final list.

Good luck!

Starting the process of re-forming my list from last year now. The only 2012 films that could make the jump in are Zero Dark Thirty and Killer Joe. Unsure if either will yet. First thing I'm doing is going through and removing films I haven't seen in so long I can't really give them a proper mental evaluation. Four removed so far, may get up to 10 or so. I have accumulated 37 films, including ZD30 and Killer Joe, that might make a jump into the list to replace the ones I am pre-emptively removing or even supplant other ones.

Should be fun.

I have seen some more movies since last year, so maybe my list will be different. I may also move around some movies as I may disagree with some of my rankings last year.

Once again I will not rank any animated films on my list. There is no way for me to properly compare animated films with live action films. Therefore, if anyone wonders why there are no animated films on my list, that is the reason.
