Coogler CAME TO THEM with this project. shit is his passion. why should he do something else?

Thank You.  Also there's nothing wrong with a writer who has a "GOOD IDEA" for a spin off or sequel to take the chance and write it themselves.  Doesn't mean the studio will like it.  But I commend Coogler for taking that chance.  Niel Bloomkap did the same with his "Alien 5" sequel project.  If you have a good idea, Espeically Franchise or not.  Take that chance.

Except it's not Rocky 7....it's Creed 1

Sly as Rocky is at most a supporting character, not the lead. When Rocky is the lead...it's a Rocky film.

Saying "Rocky 7" is obviously a Joke.  But a "Creed" Grandson movie can't be a movie Without Rocky.  Yes he will be supporting but it won't be a weak role for Rocky.  We know it's a spin off.  But technically speaking, It is the 7th Appearance for Rocky.  Also as soon as Ryan brought this to Sly, I'm sure Sly tweaked the script as he's written for every Rocky related project.

It is Rocky 7, once Creed wins the title and the success goes to his head, Rocky will have to lace up the gloves once more to knock some sense into his wayward protégé.

I don't think a 70 year old Stallone is getting back into the ring.

I don't think he's going to have a fight per se, but I do think there'll be a sparring session with him and Creed where he has to knock a little sense into the kid. Stallone may be old but if you get caught off-guard by a punch from him it's still gonna hurt a ton.

A 70 year old stallone is reportedly going back into the battlefield as rambo and went into the warzones with the expendables. The ring holds no fear.

It was a joke anyway based on the rocky 5 plot, I know its meant to be more of a creed reboot.

Official synopsis:

Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa.

Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo—the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring.

With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title…but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?

Sounds awesome to me.

I think this films box office is going to depend heavily in how good the marketing is. Neither the Rocky nor Stallone brand are going to bring people into theatres anymore; so we have to wait until trailers and reviews come out. However, numbers close to the previous Rocky film (over/under) wouldn't surprise me.

What do you guys predict for this?

Here are Rocky Balboa's BO numbers by the way:

Production Budget: $24 million

Domestic:

 $70,270,943

   45.1%

Foreign:

 $85,450,189

   54.9%

Worldwide:

 $155,721,132

I see around 45-50 mill DOM unless its really really good and 70-90 mill OS
