Look at the botch job they did on Flight. In Flight’s case, most movie theater owners didn’t think a somber drama about a drunken pilot would make much on it’s opening weekend. I don’t remember that being the case, and even if it was that doesn’t necessarily mean it would have resulted in good box office.
