I think We're The Millers might surprise. There hasn't been a comedy in the marketplace since The Heat. (It cost 11 dollars too get a movie ticket and I wont even get into popcorn/soda. And this is for the matinee! Really thought audiences wouldn't care that it was crap like they didn't the first, but happy to be proven wrong. Of course the thriving kids market this summer probably contributed to it also. Jonwo Posted August 3, 2013 Share Posted August 3, 2013 As for Smurfs-I am still surprised the first one did that well, never knew the Smurfs were more liked or more popular then Yogi Bear.I never really liked them anyway-loved Alvin more as well as Chip and Dale.Smurfs became really popular in the US due to the Hanna Barbera but they're more well known and loved OS hence why did over $450m, if Smurfs 2 does less OS it'll still mean another film,This is a really bad year for Sony.They'll bounce back, every studio goes through a bad patch, they've had a good few years with their balance of low to mid budget films and tentpoles, this year they don't have a Bond or a Spider-Man to buoy them, I wouldn't be surprised of Cloudy 2 ends up being their biggest films this year.
