It is expected to be average at best. The trailer was awful. That doesn't mean the film will be as bad, of course, but certainly not a great sign. Can't see it climbing over 60%.

Sometimes, going to the Well one too many times for success has a tendency to backfire and rthis might be it

Best thing in any of the last six Star Wars episodes...

Looks really fake, but the sound effects are amazing.

There wasn't a single memorable new sound effect in the Sequel Trilogy

From the reviews, I get the vibe that it has the same problem as the last Rambo movie from 2019(anyone remember that lol). The previous entry already being a great ending for the lead character and this has "no reason to exist".

They need to fire Kathleen Kennedy.  And my opinion on that has nothing to do with the far right’s bullshit takes about Rey being a Mary sue or wokeness nonsense (which is all a bunch of garbage spewed by bad people) but from the fact she has mismanaged the Star Wars films pretty horribly with constant announced and canceled projects and very divisive last couple of movies and then seemingly missing the landing on Indiana Jones on a movie they were incredibly confident in.

If she does go it’s going to be hilarious to see yet another slate of Star Wars films get canned.

That’s because nothing is new. They looked at the success of the PT and decided “No, people don’t want new stuff they want nostalgia!” - just shows the little confidence they have in the product. No wonder the First Order formed, the galaxy has been economically in decline for 40 years!

There's also the issue for Disney (as seen on Guardians 3) that critics are done giving these movies easy rides, so building good WOM from general audiences is essential.

Is there a reason why though. One theory might be the pandemic changing certain critics (as is the case with Jake Cole) but even then Black Widow has a higher Metacritic score than Guardians 3. Both Shang-Chi and Spider-Man ended up in the 70s. So whatever happened happened recently.

Based on the mere handful of reviews we’ve seen, if you actually saw the people who have reviewed them talking about films you’d realise how ridiculous it is that you’ve let them stand for how you’re going to feel when you see this film.  Let alone that you’ve let them be the ones that dictate what Lucasfilm should do next.
You think these guys would rave about the likes of Return of the Jedi or Temple of Doom if they came out now?

let’s just wait and see. I’m pretty confident the RT score will rise appropriately and we’ll wind up fresh’ish.

If they’d let the internet critics see it first (like Disney normally do) then this would likely be sitting in the 80’s before a handful of highbrows came in with negative reviews that wouldn’t make that much of a dent.

early days yet. I’m not defending anything, but nothing is certain yet.

They should've brought back Indy's son and recasted Shia Leboeuf. It would've made this finale made more sense and him passing the torch down to his son. But of course Kathleen Kennedy has this obsession with making sure every project she works in have a female lead, not just a supporting character. I'm not even saying they should've not had a female character in this one and make her badass. Heck you could've deleted that goddaughter BS and Phoebe Waller Bridge couldve been a romantic duo with his son and the next movie could've been a duo with just the two of them... Makes no sense why they ignore his son that is cannon especially since this is a sendoff. There's plenty of actors out there that could've replace Shia Leboeuf in the role. Whatever I am so disappointed, Kathleen Kennedy deserves all the hate she gets.

What have Paramount got to do with Indy 5?

Paramount gets a percentage of the revenue from the new Indiana Jones as part of the deal with Disney, they're not going to lose anything.

Bit silly to suggest either way that D&D and IJ is going to bankrupt Paramount given D&D was mostly funded by Hasbro

Yeah, that’s what I thought. They’re not losing anything.
