Indian Box Office Thread | Jawan overtakes Pathaan, becomes highest grossing Indian movie of 2023

Recommended Posts

EK Villain Second Week Friday figures according to BOI:

3.50 Cr nett.

So it should now collect around 18 Cr total in Second week.(Expecting a big drop on Monday as the film is not getting enough support from Mass belts)

According to BOI:

The top grosser of the first half will remain Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty as Ek Villain will not go towards the 110 crore nett mark.

Zoya Akhtar's next titled, "Dil Dhadakne Do" will feature, Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh! Zoya makes good films and I'm looking forward to this one for sure.

Haider could have done well if it had an open week to perform. If Haider's plot is too complicated for "Indian Standards" then dont expect it to collect big as you may know how quality movies flop due to really bad footfalls in mass belts. In-case of Haider, the fate relies on the Multiplexes and WOM(duh).  Plus its releasing alongside Bang Bang, I think.

Finding Fanny has Deepika Padukone in it, but still I don't see it collecting over 70 Cr. It has a niche(sort of) feel to it. Arjun Kapoor isn't that big enough to pull good opening figures. And Daawat-E-Ishq and it's releasing in a week gap so one of the films will surely under-perform.

Yeah Haider is also releasing alongside Bang Bang on October 2nd, clash will hurt the collections of Haider more than the other film. We know that both films Daawat e Ishq and Finding Fanny will be good, as Habib Faisal and Homi Adjnani know how to direct (Ishaqzaade and Cocktail). But Deepika Padukone is a much much bigger superstar than Parineeti/Aditya so I think FF will rake in more than DEI. Also looking forward to which film has better songs.

"If" FF does 70 Cr+ then it will be a big achievement for Deepika.

Zoya's last one, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was an amazing film, I'm sure this one will be just as good if not better.

ZNMD was a class film. Loved it. It was rejected by the mass audience tho. Expecting the same this around too.

Doesn't matter, those type are films are made for the multiplexes, not the single screens. If they work on single screens then its pretty much a bonus for the producers.

A film being made for the mass audiences is Singham Returns, Ajay Devgn, Kareena, and of course Rohit Shetty. Sure-shot 100 cr +

It does matter IMO. When mass belts doesn't support a film then the figures will be affected. In case of ZNMD, the lifetime figures could have been much better if it had received even a decent bit of support from mass areas.

ZNMD was released in a decent amount of screens in mass belts. If the film's targeted audience was Plexes, then why should they give such a big release in single screens. I mean, it could result in huge loss for Distributors.

Looking forward to Shahrukh Khan's Happy New Year as well.

Hope it isn't like usual Farah khan films. I'm rather excited for his Raees. It seems promising. Looking forward to Aamir's PK as well.

I'm most excited for Ranbir's Bombay Velvet this year(coz of Anurag Kashyap, not Ranbir).

- Last time SRK teamed up with Farah, we got Main Hoon Na (which was amazing)

- Last time Farah Khan directed though, we got a steaming pile of crap in Tees Maar Khan

HNY is a sure shot blockbuster, but what remains to be seen is if it's a good film or not.
