All 3 major releases today got good WOM.
War
Sye Raa
Joker

War will be 1st 300c nett grosser for Hrithik

Komal Nahta has predicted 200-250Cr lifetime for War.

WOM seems to be on the same level as TZH if not better...

The War reviews are surprisingly good. Might have good legs with no upcoming competition.

With Bollywood and South churning out these action movies without good plot but War getting praise even Grim is surprised... 😅😂

( I'm not saying the plot of war is bad just in general)

War Is Historic On Day One

War created history as it collected the highest first day in history of around 50 crore nett. The film beat the numbers of Thugs Of Hindostan by around 2 crore nett despite being released on far lesser screens. War was released on around 3800 plus screens in Hindi. The 50 crore nett apprx apprx are for the Hindi version and the regional versions would have added a little more. The film could have done 55 crore nett if there was no competition from other releases. Its a huge start from the film across the country though collections were hit in South by Syeraa Narasimha Reddy and Gujarat has Navratri. Joker did average on day one while Syeraa Narasimha Reddy was poor in Hindi. The apprx first day collections of the three films are as follows.

War - 50,00,00,000

Joker - 5,75,00,000

Syeraa Narasimha Reddy (hindi) - 1,50,00,000

if its 50cr hindi then producer figures of all languages will be higher. guessing 51-52cr official.

with reviews leaning positive i think 250-300cr total is feasible.

hrithik's best year since doom2 and krrish in 2006.

znmd and agneepath though released in separate years, were only 7 months apart and a huge boost post the debacles of kites and guzaarish.

TOG

Thu 50

Fri 28 (-44%)

Sat 22.75 (-19%)

Sun 16.75 (-26%)

Mon 5.25 (-69%)

5-Day 122.75 (2.5x OD)

TOG had a 4-day weekend and Mon was non-holiday but am including it here for the 5-day total. The trending was horrendous and WAR should do much better.

Drop on Thu from Wed could be big being working weekday but Fri-Sun holds should be much better than TOG.

51.5 + 25.75 (-50%) + 22.5 (-13%) + 25 (+11%) + 26.5 (+6%) = 151.25 (2.95x..guessing 51.5 OD)

Hitrikh is a pretty solid actor.

I use to consider him a pretty boy as he stared in some rather blah films in the 2000s but I think after Jodha Akbar people take him way more seriously.

That was an epic performance by him.

The biggest disaspointment in War for me was HR acting after generic & Hindi TV serial dialogues plus overuse of cheap CGI.

Syera Narasimha Reddy ₹55-60cr opening day gross as per initial numbers. Will be close race for #1 at Indian boxoffice on Wednesday.

Overall the 3 new releases scored ₹120-125cr Approx at Indian boxoffice. Including the holdovers biggest day at Indian boxoffice ever beating ₹138cr on 28th April 2017.

War Sets Box Office On Fire On Day One

War (Hindi) created history by collecting the highest first day figure of all time. The film collected a huge 51.50 crore nett ap[prx on day one which smashed the records of Thugs of Hindostan which set a record on Diwali last year. There was new highs across the board as it sert new circuit highs in practically all circuits.

The highlight was Delhi / UP and East Punjab as the latter crossed 5 crore nett and Delhi / UP went to almost 11 crore nett. No other film has even crossed 10 crore nett in the circuit.Gujarat / Saurashtra was also a new record in the new tax regime as the taxes are up in tis circuit compared to the time of Entertainment tax. The single screen numbers are crazy as it was practically housefull all day across UP. Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It is easily the biggest opening day ever for Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff and has doubled the numbers of their previous bests.

Also the film was only released in 3850 screens in Hindi due to the competition which is low count for such a big film as it could have went to 4700 or 4800 if it was a normal release and you can easily give 5 crore for these screens. Now it is about at what levels the film will hold over the next few days as there will be drops coming of these huge holiday numbers. The regional versions of the film could add 1.50-1.75 crore nett as the Telegu version has netted around 1 crore nett.
