This is great... but we're gonna do the 1250 nominees after all.

Rules:

Pretty much same rules of elimination BUT...

You're only allowed to eliminate 3 films from each year and that eliminated film must get 5 to 7 votes in order to be removed.

But first, we need more nominees!! :)

Well, I looked at the list and there are a lot of movies that are on my "must/should watch list" already. But I'd liked to add a few more. And I'm gonna suggest some foreign movies also.

Many of these are my favorite or one of the best movies I've ever seen; while a few of them I feel deserve to be on the list cause of their lasting impression/impact on audience and popular culture.

1. Grease (1978)

2. A Better Tomorrow (1986)

3. Dirty Dancing (1987)

4. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)

5. Ghost (2000)

6. Joint Security Area (2000)

7. Hero (2002)

8. Memories of Murder (2003)

9. The Aviator (2004)

10. The House of Flying Daggers (2004)

11. Mean Girls (2004)

12. The Notebook (2004) - I know that this one is rotten on RT, but I think it's a good movie. Also, IMO, it's one of the most influential and most popular movies in the romantic genre.

13. Good Night, and Good Luck (2005)

14. The Departed (2006)

15. The Host (2006)

16. Juno (2007)

17. Tropic Thunder (2008)

18. True Grit (2010)

Tropic Thunder, Mean Girls and The Notebook - all good picks! Juno's pretty good too  :)

These are the first 18 extra nominees at the moment - only 232 more until official elimination begins!!

Here's 10 more nominees

1. Midnight Run (1988)

2. Awakenings (1990)

3. Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

4. Rudy (1993)

5. Ace Ventura - Pet Detective (1994)

6. Babe (1995)

7. Braveheart (1995)

8. Man on the Moon (1999)

9. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

10. Paranormal Activity (2007) - that's what the 1001 movies list has it under

I think we might need like a committee to pare down the nominees in the end. Maybe 3 or 5 people representing every faction of the forums to get a balanced evaluation. It'll certainly be loads easier than nominating films for elimination and having limits nad etc.

Ok... 2 representing art house/prestige/Oscar bait? And 3 representing crowd pleasers/blockbusters? I'll be glad to evaluate crowd pleasers! :)Who else would be on the committee?

I nominate these 5 individuals to be on the committee:

Telemachos

riczhang

4815162342

Sims  20

Jake Gittes  20

I don't think we need anyone for the newer movies, maybe make a 5-7 vote veto from the floor if there is a movie that we feel should be included.

Thought this would be a good place to post this article:

I think this shows the contrast in opinions between individuals like riczhang, 4815162342, Sims vs individuals like Olive, MGS, and myself pretty well.

Ehhh... I think this list is a bit too tilted toward the "snob" side, no offense to these members :P
