BoxOffice.com Presents... 1000 Movies to See Before You Die

Recommended Posts

Calm your tits, broseph. Let me talk to you. You do have to understand that people may find it.. interesting that you'd consider a week old movie with bad reviews one of the 1000 most important movies ever made.

Yeah people make fun of certain movies I like all the time it doesn't bother me

Its more the fact of being called a girl and 12 years old that has irritated me, not the fact that the movie wasn't liked. to be honest I expect it to get voted off.

Yeah, but you at least like Baumer can back up your reasoning fairly well, and don't have absolutely outrageous picks. I mean, I do hate some of your opinions on movies but at least I can accept and live with them.

Hey I take offence. :P (Someone has to stand up for the 40 million oscar viewers)

Baumer's definitely a great addition.

I think a good list would be:

Tele

Me (Can I say that?)

Numbers

Baumer

ACSC

MGS

Jack or Jake

That's balanced ish. I think. 2-3 on the arthouse side and 4-5 on the populous side.

All right, I've decided who the "7 Angry Men" will be  ;)

1. riczhang

2. Telemachos

3. Numbers

4. Jack Nevada

5. Jake Gittes

6. Michael Gray Scott

7. myself (well I made the initial post haha  )

With Baumer as the official tie-breaker!

Anyone disagree with this? I'd like to start the voting, etc. soon!

That's a fine list

Do not count my nominations for beautiful creatures and mortal instruments as they will both just get voted off but keep my nomination for my sisters keeper. my sisters keeper should be seen before you die

I'm pretty sure neither of them got in before the limit but I'll keep My Sister's Keeper  :)

If no one wants to remove any of the listed films we'll just move on to the next 100

Are nominations for this shut? If not, is there a list of all those nominated, so I don't end up repeating films other people have already said?

Nominations are shut until we cut off some films... after unwanted films are removed nominations will come back up and you can find a list on pg 15!  :)

I just watched Bambi Meets Godzilla and even if the title didn't already say it all...

Come on, how can you seriously remove this?

Boys Beware should totally be gone, though.

No... that's way too short to be on the list lol  :P but I agree even though Boys Beware is one of the most hilarious and inaccurate PSAs I've ever watched!

I think the committee as a whole should set the rules for how it removes films.

Especially since not every pre-1955 film (let alone every AFI Top 100 film) actually deserves to be there in the end.

To be honest, I kinda trust the AFI a little more than any of the folks on the committee including me. And there's not many films pre-1955 that are horrible enough that I'd say "It shouldn't be on the list". And the bad pre-1955 movies are all good B-movie cheeseball fun

If the whole committee sets rules, it'll take much too long

And by AFI Top 100 - I meant the 123 from the original 1998 and the 10th anniversary 2007 editions. The ones in between aren't mandatory

I don't understand how My Sister's Keeper is not like a million other cancer dramas. Want to see good cancer movies? Try Terms Of Endearment, My Life Without Me or even Biutiful.

I think that the AFI Top 100 is a fine list, but having seen most of them, I can definitely say that there are a few that don't deserve its placement. (I think that Sight and Sound's lists are slightly better, because they're voted on by real people and actual filmmakers. I believe AFI's list is too heavily intellectual and focused on "American Impact" which in their defence is one of their criteria for inclusion, albeit an absolutely ludicrous one)

This is not an AFI list. This is a BO.com forum list. Our opinions should matter a hell of a lot more than a nebulous organization.
